Figures

Plate 1 issued from : E.L. Markhaseva & K.N. Kosobokova in Sarsia, 2001, 86. [p.320, Figs.1-7].
Female (from 81°13'N, 106°34'E): 1-2, habitus (right lateral and dorsal, respectively); 3, pedigerous segments 4-5 and urosome (right lateral); 4, urosome (dorsal); 5, A1 (segments 1-8); 6, A1 (segments 9-16); 7, A1 (segments 17-24).
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : Rostrum absent. Cephalosome and pediger somite 1 incompletely separate, 4th and 5th separate. Prosome : Urosome ratio 1.3 : 1. Posterior corners of pedigerous somite 5 as short lobes. A1 24-segmented, reaching posterior border of pediger somite 2. Genital somite symmetrical.

Species Arctokonstantinus hardingi - Plate 2 of morphological figures

Plate 2 issued from : E.L. Markhaseva & K.N. Kosobokova in Sarsia, 2001, 86. [p.321, Figs.8-13].
Female (right limb, by dotted line-additions after left limb): 8, A2; 9, Md (mandibular palp); 10, Md (gnathobase); 11, Mx1; 12, Mx2; 13, Mxp.
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : A2 exopod incompletely 8-segmented, exopodite 2-3 are partly fused, segments 1-3 lacking setae Praecoxal arthrite (1st inner lobe of Mx1 with 10 terminal spines, 1 anterior and 1 posterior seta ; coxal endite ( (2nd inner lobe) with 1 seta ; basal endites (3rd lobe) with 2 setae, (4th lobe) without setae) ; endopod rudimentary with 4 setae ; exopod with 9 setae.

Species Arctokonstantinus hardingi - Plate 3 of morphological figures

Plate 3 issued from : E.L. Markhaseva & K.N. Kosobokova in Sarsia, 2001, 86. [p.322, Figs.14-18].
Female: 14, P1; 15, left P2; 16, right P2; 17, P3; 18, P4.
Scale bars: 0.1 mm.

Nota : Endopod of P2 differs in setation on right (7 setae) and left (6 setae) legs.

Remarks

bathypelagic (3000-1000 m).
According to Markhaseva & Kosobokova (2001, p.323): considering the mouth-part morphology, this species could be considered a predator: Mx1 with strongly developed praecoxal arthrite (1st lobe). Mx2 highly specialized with inner lobes 2-3 bearing short flat spines and inner lobes 4 and 5 transformed into spine-like attenuations with the distal part of the limb heavily strengthened. Mxp with basis and endopod segments well developed, endopod segments with strong setae poorly setuled. Md gnathobase with 4 well developed teeth.
