Arietellus giesbrechti Sars, 1905 (F,M) | |
| | | | | | Syn.: | no Arietellus giesbrechti : Tanaka, 1964 c (p.231, figs.F) | | | Ref.: | | | Sars, 1905 c (p.21, Descr.F); 1925 (p.331, figs.F,M); Farran, 1908 b (p.82, Rem.); Lysholm & al., 1945 (p.40); Sewell, 1947 (p.233, figs.F,M, Rem.); C.B. Wilson, 1950 (p.167, fig.F); Grice, 1962 (p.226, fig.M); Vervoort, 1965 (p.151, Rem.); Owre & Foyo, 1967 (p.90, figs.F,M); Guangshan & Honglin, 1997 (p.399, Rem.); Chihara & Murano, 1997 (p.720, Pl.: 55: F,M); Bradford-Grieve & al., 1999 (p.881, 937, figs.F,M); Vives & Shmeleva, 2007 (p.148, figs.F,M) | Issued from : G.O. Sars in Résult. Camp. Scient. Prince Albert I, 69, pls.1-127 (1924). [Pl.CXIX, figs.1-6]. Female: 1, habitus (dorsal); 2, forehead (lateral); 3, P5. Male: 4, habitus (dorsal); 5, left A1; 6, P5.

issued from : R.B.S. Sewell in The John Murray Expedition, 1933-34, Scientific Reports, VIII (1), 1947. [p.235, Fig.63]. Female (fromS Arabian Sea): A, posterior thoracic segments (lateral right side); B, A1; C, A2; D, Md; E, Mx1; G, Mx2; H, Mxp; I, Mxp (one of the spines, enlarged); J, P1; K, P3; L, P5. Nota: The proportional lengths of the various segments of the body (cephalon to caudal rami) as 382:140:94:89:65:72:37:33:37:51 = 1000. The body is plentifully supplied with cutaneous glands, which are particularly numerous in the postero-lateral region of the fused 4 th-5th thoracic segments. A1 19-segmented (segments 1 and 2 fused, 8, 9 and 10 partly fused, 12-13 almost completely fused, 21-25 fused, and the surface of the combined segment is covered with very fine punctuations). In Mx1 the endopod is represented by a small, rounded swelling. Male (from Central area of Arabian Sea): F, Mx2; M, P5. Nota: The proportional lengths of the various segments of the body (cephalon to caudal rami) as 381:143:88:85:64:51:31:31:28:37:61 = 1000. Head and 1st pediger segment separate, 4th and 5th fused. Left A1 19-segmented (segments 1-2, 19-20, 21-25 fused, the distal half of segments 19-20 and the whole of 21-25 finely punctate) modified to form a grasping organ. The strong setae from the distal portion of both the Mx2 and the Mxp bear a row of flattened platelets each terminating in a short spine (as figured by Esterly, 1905, fig.42c, in A. setosus). P5 appear to resemble those of A. plumifer Sars more nearly than the figure given by Sars for A. giesbrechti.

issued from : G.D. Grice in Fish. Bull. Fish and Wildl. Ser., 1962, 61. [p.227, Pl.27, Fig.5]. Male (from 00°00', 149°38'W): 5, P5. Nota: The left posterior thoracic margin is slightly longer than the right.
