issued from : M. Carola, C. Razouls & J.L. Pretus in Vie Milieu, 1995, 45 (2). [p.153, Fig.4]. Female (from Sa Gamba cave, Minorca island): A, urosome (ventral); B, genital segment (ventral); C, P5.

issued from : A. Fosshagen in Sarsia, 1968, 35. [p.60, Fig.2]. Female (from NE Bahamas): A, habitus (dorsal); C, A2; D, Md; E, Mx1; F, P5. Nota: Exopod of A2 4-segmented (compared with 6 in P. cluthae. 1st inner lobe of Mx1 with 4 long , strong spines and 1 short spine. Endopod of P5 slightly more elongated than in P. cluthae and it bears a weaker process on its inner distal end; the terminal part of the exopod carries 3 spines of unequal size, of which the outermost is flanged and considerably longer than the other. Male: B, distal part of left A1; G, P5 (anterior view). Nota: P5 slightly asymmetrical, both limbs 4-segmented with a common base; left P5 possesses a small, bulbous, rudimentary endopod.

| | | Loc: | | | NE Bahamas (Exuma Cays), W Medit. (Menorca Is.: cave) | | | N: | 2 | | | Lg.: | | | (293) F: 1,39-1,21; M: 1,18-1,08; {F: 1,21-1,39; M: 1,08-1,18} | | | Rem.: | hyperbenthic, coastal. This form, observed in the Mediterranean Sea (Balearic Islands) iillustrates the islolation of a population at the time of the opening with the Atlantic. It also presents the problem of its maintenance following the more or less important drying out of the Mediterranean in the Miocene, and its survival during the glacial periods. | | | Last update : 27/01/2015 | |
