    Arietelloidea ( Superfamily )
        Augaptilidae ( Family )
            Euaugaptilus ( Genus )
Euaugaptilus brevirostratus  Park, 1993   (F,M)
Ref.:
Park, 1993 (p.19, figs.F,M);
Species Euaugaptilus brevirostratus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Biology of the Antarctic Seas, XXII. Antarct. Res. Ser., Washington, 58. [p.20, Fig.12].
Female: a, habitus (lateral); b-c, forehead (lataral and dorsal, respectively); d-e, urosome (lateral and dorsal, respectively); f, A2; g, Md; h, Mx1.
Nota: Laterally, anteroventral surface of forehead, without rostral knob or filaments; a ridge bearing suprafrontal sensilla clearly visible. Urosome about 26 % length of prosome. Genital segment about 47 % length of urosome

Species Euaugaptilus brevirostratus - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Biology of the Antarctic Seas, XXII. Antarct. Res. Ser., Washington, 58. [p.21, Fig.13].
Female: a, Mx2; b, Mxp; c-g, P1 to P5 (anterior views).

Species Euaugaptilus brevirostratus - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Biology of the Antarctic Seas, XXII. Antarct. Res. Ser., Washington, 58. [p.22, Fig.14].
Male: a-b, forehead (dorsal and lateral, respectively); c, urosome (dorsal); d, P5 (posterior).

Distribution map of Euaugaptilus brevirostratus by geographical zones
Loc:
sub-Antarct. (Indian, SE Pacif.)
N: 2
Lg.:
(48) F: 6,41-5,41; M: 5,58; {F: 5,41-6,41; M: 5,58}
Rem.: Sampling depth (sub-Antarct.): 0-1000-2000 m.
For Park (1993, p.22) this species is very closely related to E. nodifrons, the female can be distinguished from that of nodifrons by the absence of a rostral knob, and by Md, of which the endopod is relatively short and has only 2 setae; the male can be distinguished from nodifrons by the presence of only 3 setae on the mandibular endopod.
