Species Euaugaptilus marginatus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1964, XII (1). [p.65, Fig.205].
Female (from Sagami Bay): a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (left lateral side); c, last thoracic segment and urosome (left lateral side); d, urosome (ventral); e, A2; f, Md; g, Mx1; h, Mx2; i, Mxp; j, P1; j, P5.

Nota: Proportional lengths of cephalothorax to abdomen 72: 28.
Abdomen 3-segmented.
The abdominal segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 55:12:13:20 = 100.
A1 25-segmented, exceeds the end of the furca by distal 8 segments.
Md: exopod as long as endopod; exopod with 5 marginal setae; cutting edge with 4 teeth, the anterior very strong.
Mx1: outer lobe with 3 long setae; exopod with 7 setae of which the terminal 2 are very long; 2nd basal segment with 3 setae; 3rd inner lobe with 1 seta; 1st inner lobe with 7 spines; endopod and 2nd inner lobe absent.
Mx2 slender with on the lobes 1 to 6 and endopod: 3setae and a small spine on the 1st lobe, 2 setae on the 2nd, 2 setae on the 3rd; 3 setae on the 4th; 2 setae on the 5th; 1 seta on the 6th; 7 setae on the endopod.
Mxp: 1st basal segment as long as the 2nd; the 2nd basal segment has a row of hair-like spines on the anterior margin.
P5 3-segmented exopod and endopod; the inner marginal spine of the 2nd exopodal segment short, extends a little beyond the base of the inner marginal seta of the 3rd exopodal segment.

Species Euaugaptilus marginatus - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka & M. Omori in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1974, XXI (3/4). [p.200, Fig.3,b].
Female: b, mandibular teeth.

Species Euaugaptilus marginatus - Plate 3 of morphological figuresIssued from : T. S. Park in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1970, 20 (2). [p.532, Figs.318-324]. As Euaugaptilus longiantennalis.
Female (from Caribbean Sea): 318, habitus (lateral left side)319, idem (dorsal); 320, head (ventral); 321, Md; 322, Mx1; 323, Mxp; 324, P5 (posterior);

Nota: Prosome about 4 times length of urosome.
Rostrum consisting of 2 slender filaments.
Genital segment as long as the rest of urosome.
Caudal ramus as long as anal segment.
Mandibular palp biramous, exopod carrying 4 setae and shorter than endopod.
Mx1 with 1 seta on 3rd inner lobe; 3 setae on basis; 7 setae on exopod; 6 setae on outer lobe; 2nd inner lobe and endopod missing.
Both rami of P5 3-segmented; 1st and 2nd exopodal segments without external spines.

Distribution map of Euaugaptilus marginatus by geographical zones
Loc:
Caribbean Sea, G. of Mexico, Indonesia (Celebes Sea), China Seas (East China Sea), Taiwan, Japan (Izu), W Pacif. (equatorial)

Type locality: Sagami Bay (middle Japan).
N: 5
Lg.:
(69) F: 2,26; (88) F: 1,66; {F: 1,66-2,26}
Rem.: epi-mesopelagic. Obtained at depths between 100 and 450 m (Matthews, 1972).
