Compare with other Odontacartia species.

Nota: 1 - Presence of spine on 1st and 2nd segments of female A1 .......2.
2 - Strong spines present on dorsal surface of female genittal double-somite ....... 3.
3 - Absence of processes (spines and spinules) on dorsal surface of 2nd urosomite ......4.
4 - Length-width of female caudal rami are almost similar; medial process on 2nd exopodite of male left P5 as spine .

Distribution map of Acartia (Odontacartia) australis by geographical zones
Species Acartia (Odontacartia) australis - Distribution map 2issued from : W.M. Hamner & J.H. Calleton in Limnol. Oceanogr., 1979, 24 (1). [p.6, Fif.1].
Lengths of Acartia australis (from coral reef, E Australia, Nov. 1975) from swarm (1-2 m). Frequency histogram expressed as percentages of maximum frequency.

Nota: A. australis within the swarms was monospecific but of various sizes. Within the swarms there were three modes in the size-frequency distribution; females slightly outnumbered males.
