Known to occur between 1000 and 1400 m depth (Matthews, 1972). Sargasso Sea: 500-1000 m (Deevey & Brooks, 1977, Station "S"); Jespersen (1934) is not very confident regarding the presence of this species south of Baffin Bay. First occurrence in Indonesian waters by Matsuura & al. (2010).
