Euaugaptilus roei Matthews, 1972 (F) | |
| | | | | | Ref.: | | | Matthews, 1972 (p.16, 40, Descr.F, figs.F) | issued from : J.B.L. Matthews in Bull. Br. Mus. (Nat. Hist.) Zool., 1972, 24 (1). [p.17, Fig.7]. Female (from 28°05'N, 14°06'W): A-B, habitus (lateral and dorsal, respectively); C, A1; D,Md (biting of mandibular gnathobase). A-C to scale I; D to scale II. Nota: The length of prosome is 2.7 times its width and 4.0 times the length of the urosome. The division between the cephalosome and the mesosome is quite clearly marked. Genital segment long, bears a prominent, hemispherical, protuberance on the ventral side. 2nd urosomal segment 1/3 of the length of anal segment. Each caudal ramus about one and a half times as long as it is broad and bears 6 setae; one of these is set dorsally , the other setae are positioned round the edge of the ramus, the innermost (the only one complete in the specimen) being the shortest; the setules do not appear plumose.. A1 25-segmented, the last five of which extend past the end of the body.; none of the setae appears to be plumose.

issued from : J.B.L. Matthews in Bull. Br. Mus. (Nat. Hist.) Zool., 1972, 24 (1). [p.18, Fig.8]. Female: A, A2; B, Md; C, Mx1; D, Mx2; E, Mxp; F, P1; G, P2; H, P3; I, P4; J, P5. Nota: Exopodite of A2 about half half the length of endopodite and imperfectly divided into 8 segments. Gnathobase of Md with 3 pointed teeth with curved tips; margin is set obliquely. Setation of Mx1 considerably reduced; 4 setae on the 1st endite, 3 of them with small, plate-like processes along one edge; 2nd and 3rd endites absent; basipodite without seta; endopodite absent; exopodite with 1 long and 1 very long seta. Mx2 shows indistinct segmentation distally; protopodite lobes with 1 + 1 reduced spine, 0, 0, 2, and 1 fairly short and weak setae endopodite with 7 setae. The distal inner margins of all but the 1st seta possesses small, plate-like processes.

Distribution map of Euaugaptilus roei by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | NE Atlant.(Canary Is.), Indonesia (Celebes Sea) | | | N: | 2 | | | Lg.: | | | (308) F: 5,2; {F: 5,20} | | | Rem.: | meso-bathypelagic. Recorded between 750 and 900 m (Matthews, 1972). For Matthews (1972, p.19) the reduced setation of the mouthparts of E. roei place it among those species which show affinity more to Augaptilus than to Haloptilus. Among these species it is most similar to E. parabullifer, E. bullifer and E. vicinus. First occurrence in Indonesian waters by Matsuura & al. (2010).
