| | | | | | Ref.: | | | Ali-Khan & Ali-Khan, 1984 (p.309, figs.F) | issued from : S. Ali-Khan & J. Ali-Khan in Crustaceana, 1984, 47 (3). [p;310, Figs.35-43]. Female (from 24°09'N, 64°27'E): 35, habitus (dorsal); 36, forehead (lateral); 37, last thoracic segment and urosome (dorsal); 38, A2; 39, Md (mandibular palp); 40, Md (biting edge); 41, Mx1; 42, Mx2: 43, P5. Nota: Cephalothorax 5.6 times longer than abdomen. Rostral filaments present.Head and 1st thoracic segment separate, 4th and 5th fused. Abdomen 4-segmented. A1 overreaches the end of the caudal rami by the last 3-4 segments. Endopod of A2 5.3 times longer than exopod; exopod 7-segmented. Exopod of Md nearly equal in length to the endopod; number and arrangement of setae on the mandibular palp agree with H. austini Grice, 1959. Exopod of Mx1 with 5 + 3 setae; endopod with 7 setae and 2nd basal segment bears 5 setae; inner lobe 1 with 8, lobe 2 with 2, lobe 3 with 4 setae; outer lobe with 5 + 4 setae. Mx2 with 6 lobes, lobes 1 and 2 with 3 setae each, lobes 3 and 4 both with 2 setae, lobe 5 with 1 seta, lobe 6 with 4 setae, the distal part of this appendage bears 7 setae, 1 spine each on lobes 5 and 6.

This species resembles H. ornatus (Giesbrecht, 1892), H. fertilis (Giesbrecht, 1892) and H. plumosus (Claus, 1863) in having 1 spine each on lobes 5 and 6 and also by the endopod of Mx2, but the female differs from different species in having a modified mandible blade, and 7 setae on the endopod of Mx1. | | | Last update : 06/01/2015 | |
