issued from : R.B.S. Sewell in The John Murray Expedition, 1933-34, Scientific Reports, VIII (1), 1947. [p.244, Fig.67]. As Heterorhabdus sp. With doubt. Male (from N Arabian Sea): A, left A1; B, A2; C, Md (mandibular palp and base of biting blade); D, curved process on posterior lip of mouth; E, Mx1; F, Mx2; G, P1; H, P3; I, right P5; J, left P5. Nota: Proportional lengthsof the prosome and urosome as 75 to 25. Proportional lengths of the various segments of the body (cephalon to caudal rami) as 394:115:71:71:99:51:41:38:33:18:69 = 100. Posterior thoracic margin of 5th segment is produced backwards in a wing, the apex of which is rounded and bears a minute hair or seta. Left A1 modified into grasping organ.; the 17th segment is produced in a straight horizontal spine that overhangs the 18th segment.; segments 19 to 21 fused and the combined joint bears 2 straight spines, of which the distal is the longer.; segments 22 and 23 fused, 24 and 25 separate. The proportional lengths of the exopod and endopod of A2 as 53 to 47.Md asymmetrical; on the right side the biting edge is produced on its anterior aspect in a long curved tooth (similar to that in the female H. attenuatus; in left side the biting edge bears a series of 5 teeth and 1 seta. In Mx2, the 5th lobe bears 6 setae, of which 4 are serrated, and the 6th is a stout curved spine with a few teeth on its margin.
