Pseudaugaptilus orientalis  Tanaka, 1964   (F)
Ref.:

Species Pseudaugaptilus orientalis - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1964, XII (1). [p.85, Fig.216].
Female: a, habitus (dorsal); b, foreheas (left lateral side); c, last thoracic segment and urosome (right lateral side); d, urosome (dorsal); e, distal segments of A1; f, mandibular palp of Md; g, biting blade of Md and masticatory edge; h, Mx1; i, P1; j, P5.

Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separate, 4th and 5th thoracic segments fused.
Frontal margin of the head slightly truncate, with median papilla; in lateral aspect the head is narrowly rounded.
Rostrum with 2 long filaments.
A1 extends beyond the end of the furca by distal 2 segments; segments 23 and 24 carries each a very heavy seta on the posterior distal margin; the distal segment is 1.3 times as long as the penultimate one.
A2: exopod and endopod slender; exopod 8-segmented, 1.1 times as long as endopod.
Md: exopod and endopod of about equal lengths; masticatory lobe slender and small.
Mx1: 7 spines on the 1st inner lobe; 2nd and 3rd lobes with each 1 long seta; 2nd basal segment represented by a long strong seta; endopd with 2 small setae; exopod cylindrical with 2 strong setae of about equal lengths.
Mx2 and Mxp resemble those of P. longiremis figured by Sars.
The abdomen segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 50:11:11:11:17 = 100. The furcal rami about as long as wide.

Distribution map of Pseudaugaptilus orientalis by geographical zones
Loc:
China Seas (South China Sea), E Japan (Sagami)
N: 3
Lg.:
(69) F: 3,89; {F: 3,89}
Rem.: Depth: ? i(n (vertical haul 0-1000 m).
The specimen comes very near to Pseudaugaptilus longiremis. For Matthews (1972, p.55) the main character distinguishing this species from P. longiremis is the presence or absence of a spine on the 2nd segment of the exopodite of P1, is one which in Euaugaptilus at least shows intraspecific variation.
For Itoh (1970 a, fig.2, from co-ordonates) the Itoh's index value from mandibular gnathobase = 1520.
