Issued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve in The marine fauna of New Zealand. Nat. Inst. Water Atm. Res. Biodiversity Memoir 111, 1999. [p.20, Fig.6]. Female: A-B, habitus (lateral and dorsal, respectively); C, rostrum; D, left A1; E, A2; F, Mx1; G, Mx2; H, Mxp; I, P5. Nota: Left posterior corner of last thoracic segment extends further posteriorly than right. Urosome 0.2-0.25 times the length of prosome. Genital segment hardly swollen. Right A1 extends to middle of pedigerous segment 1, longer on left. A2 exopod 6-segmented. Md palp with 2 setae on basis; terminal endopodal segment with 3 setae. Mxp with distal region of coxa expanded and covered with small spinules as in opposing part of basis; endopod 4-segmented, last segment small.

Distribution map of Alloiopodus pinguis by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | NE New Zealand | | | N: | 1 | | | Lg.: | | | (230) F: 3,05; {F: 3,05} | | | Rem.: | Bathypelagic (hyperbenthic). Taken by Bradford (1969 b) at greater than 1200 m on the continental slope off NE New Zealand, where it is deduced to have a benthic habitat. For Bradford (1969 b, p.500), this species differs in several respects from other genera in the Bathypontiidae; of those species which have a female P5 none except Alloiopodus has the exopod of segment 1 of similar shape to that of the other swimming legs. This is the only genus with a very short A1 and with a gripping joint between basipods 2 and 1 of Mxp. | | | Last update : 17/11/2017 | |
