Temorites longicornis (Tanaka, 1965) (M) | |
| | | | | | Syn.: | Bathypontia longicornis Tanaka, 1965 (p.382, Descr.M, figs.M); Deevey, 1973 a (p.357, Rem.); Harding, 1974 (p.141); Guangshan & Honglin, 1984 (p.118, tab., Rem.: p.165); Shih & Young,1995 (p.68) | | | Ref.: | | | Bradford-Grieve, 1999 b (p.21) | issued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1965, XII (5). [p.382, Fig.242]. As Bathypontia longicornis. Male: a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (left lateral side); c, last thoracic segment and segments 1-2 of urosome; d, rostrum (dorsal view); e, clasping A1; f, masticatory edge of Md; g, P1; h, P2; i, P3; j, P5. Nota: The abdominal segments and furca are in the proportional lengths as 18:20:20:18:18:6 = 100. The furcal rami 2/3 as long as wide. Left A1 extends to the distal margin of the 3rd urosomal segment.

issued from : S. Ohtsuka & R. Huys in Hydrobiologia, 2001, 453/454. [p.447, Fig.3]. Male (from Japan): A, right A1 (this specimen probably showing grasping position), main and supplemental geniculation indicated by large and small arrow, respectively; B, compound segment XVII-XXIV; C, compound segments XIX-XX and XXI-XXIII around hinge; D, compound segment XIX-XX, modified elements arrowed. Scale = 1 mm (A); 0.1 mm (B-D).

Distribution map of Temorites longicornis by geographical zones
|
| | | | | | Loc: | | | China Seas (South China Sea), Japan (Suruga Bay, Sagami Bay), W Pacif. (equatorial) | | | N: | 4 | | | Lg.: | | | (119) M: 5,18; {M: 5,18} | | | Rem.: | bathypelagic. See remark in Temorites kanavae. Boixshall & Halsey (2004, p.72) point out that Harding (1974) found only homogeneous amorphous material in the gut of this species and deduced that bathypontiids are probably carnivores taht grasp their prey. | | | Last update : 07/05/2020 | |
