Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment incompletely separate, 4th and 5th separate. Rostrum 2-pointed, each point with a filament. Right A1 geniculate, 5th segment from end with 2 rounded knobs. Endopod of A2 about 2/3 the length of exopod. Md with 2 setae on palpus. Mx1 with 1 seta on 2nd inner lobe, 2 setae on 3rd inner lobe, 1 seta on 2nd basal segment, endopod absent, exopod with 5 setae. Mx2 with 5 well-defined lobes bearing 3, 2, 1, 3, 2 setae, respectively; long and coarse setae on distal lobe and on end of appendage. Mxp with coarse setae distally. Exopods of P1 to P4 3-segmented. Endopods of P1 1-segmented, of P2 to P4 3-segmented. 2nd basal segment of P3 with distolateral spinelike protrusion. P5 with right exopod 2-segmented, left exopod 1-segmented; right endopod a small knob, left endopod large bearing a large spine distally.

For Grice & Hulsemann (1967, p.41) the male of Z. abyssalis Brodsky is not known. It is unlikely that the present specimen is the male of Z. abyssalis because the sizes of the two species.
