Candacia grandis  Tanaka, 1964   (F,M)
Ref.:
Tanaka, 1964 c (p.248, figs.F,M)
Species Candacia grandis - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1964, XII (3). [p.249, Fig.229].
Female (from Suruga, Japan): a, habitus (dorsal); b, last thoracic segment and urosome (left lateral side); c, proximal part of A1; d, Mx2; e, P1; f, distal segment of exopod of P3; g, P5.
Nota: Cephalothorax 4.07 mm; abdomen 1.06 mm. Abdomen contained 2.4 times in the length of the cephalothorax.
The last thoracic segment symmetrical; posterior lateral corner of the segment produced into an acute expansion
Posterior margin of the head without swelling on the mid-dorsal line.
Abdomen 3-segmented. The abdominal segments and caudal rami in the proportional lengths 47 : 22 : 17 : 14 = 100. The caudal rami as long as wide.
The mouth parts as those of C. longimana.
P5 symmetrical, 3-segmented; terminal segment with 2 small outer marginal spines and 3 apical spines of which the inner marginal one is long.

Male: h, urosome (dorsal); i, middle portion of clasping A1; j, P5.
Nota: Cephalothorax 3.31 mm; abdomen 1.06 mm.
Abdominal segments and caudal rami in the proportional lengths 26 : 21 : 20 : 11 : 7 : 15 = 100. A1 slender and long, reaching the end of the caudal rami; the right A1 resembles that of C. longimana but the segment 17 separates from the 18th, and so are the segment 19 from the 20th; the segment 18 is finely denticulated on the anterior margin; the segment 19 denticulated only on the proximal anterior margin; the segment 15 has a short distal spine.
P5 resembles that of C. longimana..
Genital segment with a strong process on the right lateral margin.

Species Candacia grandis - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : O. Tanaka in Publs Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1964, XII (3). [p. 248].
Female: proportional lengths of segments of A1.

Nota: A1 24-segmented, extends beyond the end of the caudal rami by distal 2 segments.

Distribution map of Candacia grandis by geographical zones
Loc:
Japan (Suruga).
N: 1 (Pacif. : 1)

(120) F: 5,13; M: 4,37; {F: 5,13; M: 4,37}
Rem.: For Tanaka (1964c, p.250) the Suruga's specimen closely allied to C. longimana, C. falcifer Farran and C. magna Sewell.
