Paraeuchaeta eltaninae  (Park, 1978)   (F,M)
Syn.: Euchaeta eltaninae Park, 1978 (p.280, figs.F,M); Ward & Wood, 1988 (p.45, tab.1)
Ref.:
Bradford & al., 1983 (p.36, figs.F,M, Rem.); Park, 1994 (p.321); 1995 (p.39, Rem.F,M, figs)
Species Paraeuchaeta eltaninae - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.135, Fig.25].
Female: a, forehead (left side); b, urosome (left); c, genital somite (left); d, outer lobe of Mx1; e exopod of P1 (anterior); f, exopod of P2 (anterior).
Nota: Similar in habitus to P. parvula but distinguishable from it by rostrum, whivh in lateral view is almost triangular with a large base.
Laterally, genital somite with strongly bulging dorsal margin; ventral margin of genital flange nearly straight or only slightly emarginate and sloping posteroventrad. Posterior edge of genital field produced into a lox angular ridge with a wide base. Posterior margin of genital prominence slightly bulging and sloping about 30° with respect to long body axis.
Cephalosomal appendages similat to those of P. barbata and P. parvula except that outer lobe of Mx1 with 7 long setae, of which the proximalmost is shorter than the others, and a minute seta proximally.

Male: g, forehead (left); h, distal exopodal segments of left 5th leg (lateral, tilted clockwise).

Species Paraeuchaeta eltaninae - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Antarctic Res. Ser. Oceanogr. Washington, 1978, 27.[p.281, Fig.118]. As Euchaeta eltaninae.
Female: A, forehead (lateral); B, C, D, distal end of metasome segment (right side, left side, and ventral, respectively); E, posterior part of metasome and urosome (right side, lateral); F, outer lobe of Mx1; G, P1; H, P2. P1-2: legs (anterior).

Nota: Proportional lengths of prosome and urosome about 68: 32.
Rostrum large, pointing obliquely fordward at angle of about 60° with respect to body.
Frontal eminence of forehead low, bearing suprafrontal sensilla.
A1 reaching distal end of metasome.

Nota from Bradford & al. (1983, p.37):
P1 exopod female: Aa minute: Bb = BC; Cc > BC.
P2 exopod female : Aa > AB; Bb = 1/3 BC; Cc = 2/3 CD; Dd = 1/3 CD. (see code of lengths outer spines in the Genus' figure, or in Paraeuchaeta sp. A).

Species Paraeuchaeta eltaninae - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Antarctic Res. Ser. Oceanogr. Washington, 1978, 27.[p.282, Fig.119]. As Euchaeta eltaninae.
Male: A, forehead (lateral); B, C, last metasomal and genital segments (left side and right side, respectively); D, P1; E, P2; F, P5; G, H, I, distal part of exopod of left P5 (medial, anterior, and lateral, respectively). P1-5: legs (anterior).

Nota from Bradford & al; (1983, p.38):
P1 exopod male: Aa minute; Bb = 2/5 BC; Cc = 4/5 BC.
P2 exopod male: Aa = 1/6 AB; Bb = 1/3 BC; Cc = 1/4 CD; Dd = 1/4 CD. (see code of lengths outer spines in the Genus' figure, or in Paraeuchaeta sp. A).

Species Paraeuchaeta eltaninae - Plate 4 of morphological figuresParaeuchaeta eltaninae Female:
1 - See key to species Groups and independent species of Paraeuchaeta (p.30): malayensis species Group.
2 - Outer spine of 2nd exopodal segment (or the 2nd of the first 2 exopodal segments forming a proximal, compound segment) of P1 normally developed (Fig.25-e).
3 - Outer lobe of Mx1 with 7 long setae in addition to 1 or 2 minute setae proximally (Fig.25-d).
4 - Genital somite without a conical process on left side close to anterior base of genital prominence (Fig.25-c).
5 - Dorsally and ventrally, genital somite symmetrical.
6 - Laterally, genital flange with normal posterior lobe (Fig.25-c).
7 - Laterally, genital somite with more or less smooth dorsal margin (Fig.25-c).
8 - Laterally, genital prominence with nearly straight or only slightly bulging posterior margin (Fig.25-c).
9 - Outer lobe of Mx1 with 7 long setae plus 1 or 2 very minute setae (Fig.25-d).
10 - Laterally, genital prominence with posterior margin equal to or longer than posterior ventral wall of somite (Fig.25-c).
11 - Laterally, posterior margin of genital prominence and posterior ventral wall of somite forming an angle of more than 140° (Fig.25-c).
12 - Laterally, genital genital prominence with posterior margin distinctly longer than posterior ventral wall of somite (Fig.25-c).
