Paraeuchaeta propinqua (Esterly, 1906) (F) | |
| | | | | | Syn.: | Euchaeta propinqua Esterly, 1906 a (p.61, Descr.F, figs.F); Davis, 1949 (p.37, figs.F); Vervoort, 1957 (p.77); Pareuchaeta propinqua : Brodsky, 1950 (1967) (p.212, figs.F) | | | Ref.: | | | A. Scott, 1909 (p.71, figs.F); Sewell, 1913 (p.354); 1948 (p.553, 556, 562); Bradford & al., 1983 (p.23); Park, 1994 (p.320); 1995 (p.51, Rem.F, figs.F) | issued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.153, Fig.43]. Female: a, forehead (left side); b, urosome; c, genital somite (left); d, outer lobe of Mx1; e, P1 (anterior); f, P2 (anterior). Nota: Very similar in habitus including rostrum to P. plaxiphora, but different from it in shape of urosome including genital somite. Laterally, genital somite with a depth-length ratio of 100:124, its dorsal wall nearly straight without a noticeable hump. Genital flange high, with ventral margin only slightly emarginate. Measured along posterior margin, genital flange almost as high as rest of genital prominence. Posterior edge of genital field produced into a small conical process. Posterior margin of prominence sloping about 50° with respect to long body axis and about as long as posterior ventral wall of somite; they together forming a rather sharp curve. Cephalosomal appendages including Mx1 as in P. plaxiphora. Swimming legs similar to thise of P. plaxiphora excepet in P1 exopod, outer spine of 1st segment reaching 2/3 way to base of following outer spine, which is reaching close to base of outer spine of 3rd segment. In P2, outer spine of 2nd exopodal segment reaching base of following outer spine.

Paraeuchaeta propinqua Female: 1 - See key to species Groups and independent species of Paraeuchaeta (p.30): malayensis species Group. 2 - Outer spine of 2nd exopodal segment (or the 2nd of the first 2 exopodal segments forming a proximal, compound segment) of P1 normally developed (Fig.43-e). 3 - Outer lobe of Mx1 with 7 large distal setae extending laterad and 2 medium-sized, densely plumose proximal setae extending proximad along lateral side of appendage (Fig.43-d). 4 - Genital segment without 2 conspicuous conical processes on left side at anterior base of genital prominence (Fig.43-c). 5 - Laterally, rostrum triangular with wide base (Fig.43-a). 6 - Laterally, posterior ventral wall of genital somite strongly obique to long axis of somite (Fig.43-c).
