2 - Forehead with a spiniform process.
3 - In right P5, basal inner lobe relatively long and somewhat fingerlike, medial projection of 2nd exopodal segment (Fig.63-h) with small terminal spiniform process and relatively well developed distal lobe.
4 - Basal inner lobe of right P5 (Fig.63-g) almost as long as segment, pointing distomediad. Endopod of Mx1 with 3 seta.
5 - 2nd exopodal segment of left P5 (Fig.63-j) with outer spine about as long as conical process. Terminal spine of 3rd exopodal segment of right P5 about 1/3 length of segment (Fig.63).
6 - Lateral margin of 3rd exopodal segment of right P5 (Fig.63-h) only moderately elbowed elbowed about 1/5 length of segment from distal end.

Rem.: "Spinifrons" Group.
After Park (2000, p.96), Giesbrecht's figure (1892) as H. spinifrons of the genital somite in lateral view from the equatorial Pacific seems to be referable to H. heterolobus. The two species are similar but can be distinguished: In female, genital prominence far short of reaching posterior end of somite and with 2 sistict lobes along distal margin; in male P5, terminal spine of 3rd exopodal segment of right P5 relatively long, about 1/3 length of segment; outer spine of 2nd exopodal segment of left P5 relatively short, about as long as conical process of segment.
This species is also very close to H. quadrilobus, but its female can be distinguished by the absence of rounded lobes on the anterior wall of the genital prominence. In the males, these two species are so close to each other that they can be identified only by careful observations of such structures as the basal inner lobe and 3rd exopodal segment of the right P5 and the lateral conical process and outer spine of the 2nd exopodal segment of the left P5.
