Distribution map of Heterostylites nigrotinctus by geographical zones
|
| | | | | | Loc: | | | Antarct. (Drake Passage, Atlant., Indian, off S Tasmania).
Type locality: 64°34'S, 127°08'E. | | | N: | 4 | | | Lg.: | | | (31) M: 4,08; 3,75; (247) M: 5; (824) F: 4,64-4,44; M: 4,36; {F: 4,44-5; M: 3,75-4,36} | | | Rem.: | epi-mesopelagic. After T. Park (2000, p.45) the male described by Vervoort (1951) as H. major from the Atlantic sector of the Antarctic undoubtedly belongs to H. nigrotinctus according to the close similarity in P5. Park et Ohtsuka & al. (1997) do not agree on a synonymy with Heterostylites major. For Ohtsuka & al. (1997, p.593) this species is poorly descibed from a single male. Based on his illustrations of the right and left Md and Mx2, the body length (5 mm), this species must be treated as a junior subjective synonym of Heterostylites major (Dahl, 1894). | | | Last update : 06/01/2015 | |
