Mesorhabdus poriphorus  Park, 2000   (F,M)
Ref.:
Park, 2000 (p.35, figs.F,M)
Species Mesorhabdus poriphorus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 2000, 31. [p.169, Fig.17].
Female (3,09°25'S, 159°06'E): a, urosome (dorsal).

Male (3,00°55'N, 112°50'W): b, urosome (right side); c, posterior part of urosome (dorsal); d, P5 (distal exopodal segments omitted), anterior; e, P5 (posterior); f, distal exopodal segment of left P5 (posterior); g, second exopodal segment of right P5 (posterior).
Nota: Anteriorly, P5 (Fig.17-d) with 2 or 3 large pores on coxa close to medial margin, 2-4 pores on basis, and 2or 3 pores on each of 2 distal endopodal segments and 1st exopodal segment. Posteriorly, P5 (Fig.17-e) with 5 or 6 pores on coxa, 4 pores on basis, 1st exopodal segment and 2 distal endopodal segments each with 1-3 pores.

Species Mesorhabdus poriphorus - Plate 2 of morphological figuresMesorhabdus poriphorus female:
1 - Genital somite without spinules along posterior margin; oral cone with low anterior labral lobe; Coxa of Mxp not with 1+2+3 setae.
2 -Coxa of Mxp with 1+2+2 setae; endopod of Mx1 with 4 setae, exopod with 6+4 setae; Mx2 normally with 6 setae on 1st lobe and 3 setae on 2nd lobe; dorsally, caudal ramus without a large pore close to posterior end.
3 - Dorsally, posterolateral corners of prosome diverging; Mx2 with 2 setae on 2nd lobe; 1st exopodal segment of P1 conspicuously bulging.
4 - Dorsally, anal segment with 2 pores on each side; caudal ramus with pores to anterior end (Fig.17-a).

Species Mesorhabdus poriphorus - Plate 3 of morphological figuresMesorhabdus poriphorus male:
1 - In right P5, 2nd exopodal segment with medial projection at distal end of segment.
2 - Mx1 with 4 setae on endopod and 6+4 seta on exopod; dorsally, caudal ramus without pores on posterior half.
3 - Dorsally, caudal ramus with pores; anteriorly, coxa of P5 with several pores (Fig.17-d).
4 - Dorsally, caudal ramus with 2 or 3 pores (Fig.17-c); Mx2 with 2 setae on 2nd lobe.

Distribution map of Mesorhabdus poriphorus by geographical zones
Loc:
off SW St. Helena Is., Solomon Is., China Seas (South China Sea), E Pacif. (tropical: S-N), off W Galapagos.
N: 1
Lg.:
(824) F: 5,75-5,25; M: 5,5-5,41; {F: 5,25-5,75; M: 5,41-5,50}
Rem.: For Park (2000, p.36) the species is very close in marphology to M. paragracilis but can be distinguished from it mainly by the pore patterns of the anal segment and caudal rami in both the female and male and the pore patterns of P5 in the male. In the sstudy, the two species occurred together at 2 stations , one off the southern end of Baja California and another east of New Guinea.
