Male: E, habitus (dorsal); F, P5; G, last segment of P5.
Nota: Proportional lengths of urosomites and furca 23:18:19:21:19 = 100. The last segment of P5 bears a lateral spine and setae (not reported by Roe, 1975).

Species Aetideus arcuatus - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : T. Park in Antarctic Res. Ser. Washington, 1978, 27. [p.110, Fig.5]. As Snelliaetideus arcuatus
Female: A, Mx1; B, Mx2; C, Mxp; D, P1; E, P2; F, P3; G, P4; H, coxa of P4 (posterior view); P 1-4: legs (anterior view).

Species Aetideus arcuatus - Plate 4 of morphological figuresIssued from : W. Vervoort in Zool. Verh., Leiden, 1949, 5. [p.5, Fig.1]. As Snelliaetideus arcuatus.
Female (6°59'S, 132°26'E): a, habitus (dorsal); b, urosome (dorsal); c, forehead (lateral); d, rostrum (ventral view); e, distal part of cephalothorax with P5 and urosome (lateral right side).

Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th fused. The proportional lengths of the cephalothorax and urosome 80:28. The abdominal segments and furca in the proportional lengths 34:16:13:15:22 = 100. A1 24-free segments. A2, mouth parts and legs are identical with those of Aetideus armatus figured by Sars, 1902 (pl.14).

Species Aetideus arcuatus - Plate 5 of morphological figuresIssued from: M.G. Mazzocchi, G. Zagami, A. Ianora, L. Guglielmo & J. Hure in Atlas of Marine Zooplankton Straits of Magellan. Copepods. L. Guglielmo & A. Ianora (Eds.), 1995. [p.131, Fig.3.21.2].
Female (SEM preparation): A, habitus (lateral left side); B, idem (dorsal); C, urosome (ventral); D, idem (dorsal); E, P4 (posterior); F, detail of spines and hairs on basipod 1 of P4 (arrow in F); G, rostrum;
Bars: A, B, E 0.100 mm; C, D, G 0.050 mm; F 0.010 mm.

Species Aetideus arcuatus - Plate 6 of morphological figuresissued from : H.S.J. Roe in Bull. British Mus. (Nat. Hist.) Zool., London, 1975, 28 (7). [p.305, Fig.5, a-d].
Female (from Cape Verde Islands): a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (right lateral side); c, Mx2; d, P4 (basipod segments).
Bar scale 0.1 mm unless indicated.
Nota : The present females agree with Vervoort’s (1949) but show some differences. Endopod of Mx1 has 12 setae instead of 9 ; the endopodite of P2 has only 1 segment – but with a more or less obvious line of fusion ; and there is a group of small spines at the base of the seta on the 1st basipodite of P4.
Mx2 has 6 setae on the endopodite, not 5 as stated by Vervoort.

Species Aetideus arcuatus - Plate 7 of morphological figuresissued from : H.S.J. Roe in Bull. British Mus. (Nat. Hist.) Zool., London, 1975, 28 (7). [p.305, Fig.5, e-m].
Male (Cape Verde Islands): e, habitus (dorsal); f, last thoracic segment and urosome (right lateral side); g, A1; h, A2; i, Md (mandibular palp); j, Mx1; k, Mxp; l, P5; m, P5 (terminal segment).
Bar scale 0.1 mm unless indicated.
Nota : Head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th fused.
No rostrum and the hind of the cephalothorax rounded.
A1 20-segmented, reaches to the hind edge of the 2nd abdominal segment.
A2 and mandibular palp as in the female.
mandible blade only a simple lamella.
Mx1 reduced.
Mx2 very reduced.
Mxp similar to that of the female but lacks setae on the 1st basipodite.
Swimming legs similar to those of the female. Endopodite of P2 with 1 segment but has an obvious line of fusion. No spines on the 1st basipodite of P4.
P5 uniramous, and present on the left side only. ; it has 5 segments, the lest of which with patches of spinules and terminates in a group of modified setae.
Abdomen 4-segmented.
Caudal rami about 3 times longer than wide.
Remark: The male is immediately distinguished from the other males in the genus by having no points on the hind margin of the cephalothorax.

Species Aetideus arcuatus - Plate 8 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva in Trudy Zool. Inst. RAN, St. Petersburg, 1996, 268. [p.15, Fig.3].
Female (from 34°53'N, 14°59'W).
