Species Batheuchaeta enormis - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hulsemann in Pacif. Sci., 1968, 22 (3). [p.326, Figs.1-13].
Female (from SE Pacific): 1-2, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); 3, 4th and 5th thoracic segments and urosome (dorsal); 4, idem (left lateral view); 5, idem (right lateral view); 6, A2; 7, Mx2; 8, idem (other side); 9, distal end of Mxp; 10, proximal segment of Mxp; 11, P1; 12, P2; 13, P4 (incomplete).

Nota: Length of urosome contained 5.7 times in cephalothorax. Head and 1st thoracic segment incompletely separated, 4th and 5th fused. Anterior portion of head rounded without trace of a spine or crest. Rostrum absent. Urosome 4-segmented; genital segment with conspicuous, slightly asymmetrical lateral swellings. A1 24-segmented (segments 8 and 9 fused), reaching end of cephalothorax. Mx1 with 10 spines on the 1st inner lobe, 0 setae on 2nd inner lobe, 1 seta on 3rd inner lobe, 1seta on 2nd basal segment; 6 setae on endopod; 11 setae on exopod, and 9 setae on outer lobe.

Rem.: For Grice & Hulsemann (1968, p.325) the female proposed as Batheuchaeta enormis differs from the description of the genus by Brodsky in the following points: The genital segment is slightly asymmetrical (it is symmetrical in Batheuchaeta, Mx2 carries 3 spines, 1 each on lobes 3 to 5 (Batheuchaeta has 1 spine each on lobes 4 and 5 only)., the posterior margins of the abdominal segments are smooth (they carry teeth in Batheuchaeta).
Vaupel Klein (1984 a, p.50) underlines: The setal armature of Mx1 with 10 setae on the 1st inner lobe (vs. 14 in Batheuchaeta, 2nd lobe without setae (vs. 5), basipod 2 endite with 1 seta (vs. 4), basipod 2 with 1 seta (vs. 5 and endopod bearing 6 setae (vs. 15). Presence of a heavy seta on endite 3 of Mx2 (vs. such a seta on endite 4 and 5 only, in Batheuchaeta).
Thus Batheuchaeta enormis Grice & Hulsemann, 1968, does not belong into this genus, and perhaps to the aetideid family. : Fam., Genus, species inc. sedis.
