Spinocalanus sp.  Grice & Hulsemann, 1967   (M)
Ref.:
Grice & Hulsemann, 1967 (p.22, fig.M); Roe, 1975 (p.301, figs.M); Damkaer, 1975 (p.57, Rem.);
Species Spinocalanus sp. - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hulsemann in Proc. U. S. natn. Mus., 1967, 122 (3583). [p.49, Fig.35]. As Spinocalanus sp.
Male (from Indian Ocean): 35, P5.

Nota: Left exopod greatly elongate and endopod rudimentary. the right leg is small, 1-segmented, and does not exceed the 2nd basal segment of the left leg. P5 similar to S. angusticeps.

Species Spinocalanus sp. - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : H.S.J. Roe in Bull. British Mus. (Natural History) Zool., London, 1975, 28 (7). [p.301, Fig.2].
Male (from Cape Verde Islands): a, cephalothorax (dorsal); b, urosome and 5th legs (lateral); c, A2; d, mandibular palp; e, Mx1; f, Mx2; g, Mxp; h, P1; i, P2; j, P3; k, P4; l, P5. P2-4 swimming legs (incomplete).
Bar scale 0.1 mm unless indicated.
Nota : Cephalothorax 3 times as long as the 5-segmented abdomen.
head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th separate.
A1 19-segmented (without group of spines on the 1st segment), reaches to the hind edge of the 1st abdominal segment.
P5 extends back to the hind edge of the 3rd abdominal segment ; left exopodite very long and the endopodite reduced to a spine ; right leg uniramous and does not reach the end of the 2nd basipodite of the left leg.
P5 in Grice & Hulsemann (1967) differs slightly from that the present males in the relative length and segmentation of the right leg. S. longipes Tanaka (1956) is similar to the present specimens but has a much longer left P5.
