Lucicutia pellucida  Hülsemann, 1966   (F)
Syn.: Lucicutia grandis Grice & Hülsemann, 1965 (part., p.224)
Hülsemann, 1966 (p.734, Descr.F, figs.F); Boxshall & Halsey, 2004 (p.132: F)
Species Lucicutia pellucida - Plate 1 of morphological figuresIssued from : K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1966, 16 (4). [p.714, Figs.41-42].
Female (from E Azores): 41, urosome (lateral right side); 42, P1.
Nota: 2nd basipodal segment of P1 with tube-like protrusion.

Species Lucicutia pellucida - Plate 2 of morphological figuresIssued from : K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1966, 16 (4). [p.718, Fig.72].
Female: head (dorsal).

Species Lucicutia pellucida - Plate 3 of morphological figuresIssued from : K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1966, 16 (4). [p.718, Fig.74].
Female: 74, urosome (dorsal).
Nota: Furca nearly as long as abdomen, eight and one-half times longer than wide. Genital segment protruded ventrally, and constricted dorsally near its posterior end. Anal segment longer than preceding segment. A1 exceeding end of furca by 2 segments.

Species Lucicutia pellucida - Plate 4 of morphological figuresIssued from : K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1966, 16 (4). [p.720, Fig.75].
Female: P5.
Nota: Terminal spine of exopod of P5 shorter than 1/2 length of the 3rd exopodal segment.

Species Lucicutia pellucida - Plate 5 of morphological figuresLucicutia pellucida female: 1 - Characters following not combined : Prosome about 3 times longer than urosome. Cephalosome with slightly projecting and rounded anterior corners and well developed lateral spinous projections; anal somite about as long as wide; caudal rami 11.7 times longer than wide and bowed outwards at base, leaving elliptical space between rami proximally.
2 - P1 with 3-segmented endopod.
3 - Cephalosome with 1 pair lateral spinous projections.
4 - Genital double-somite symmetrical (dorsal view).
5 - Anal somite much shorter than caudal ramus.
6 - P5 with 3-segmented endopod.
7 - Characters not combined between distal 3 to 4 segments of A1 reaching beyond tip of caudal ramus and body length less than 3mm.
8 - Cephalosome with 1 pair of obtusly pointed lateral projections; anal somite longer and narrower than preceding somite.
9 - Caudal rami 8.5 times longer than wide; terminal setal element of P5 less than half length of 3rd exopodal segment.

Species Lucicutia pellucida - Distribution map 2
Chart of 1996
off E Azores, Chile (40°S)
N: 3
(21) F: 8,51; {F: 8,51}
Rem.: bathypelagic.
For Hülsemann (1966, p.734) this species is distinguished from L. sarsi by the obtusely pointed protrusion on each side of head and the stouter furca. It differs from L. wolfendeniin the slender and longer anal segment and the ventral protrusion of the genital segment.
