Lucicutia sarsi Hülsemann, 1966
| | | | | | Syn.: | Lucicutia maxima (F): Sars, 1925 (p.211, figs.F); Sewell, 1932 (p.295, 296, text-fig.94: M) | | | Ref.: | | | Hülsemann, 1966 (p.736, figs.F,M, Rem.); Grice & Hulsemann, 1968 (tab.2); Boxshall & Halsey, 2004 (p.132: F; p.133: M); Vives & Shmeleva, 2007 (p.346, figs.F,M, Rem.) | Issued from : G.O. Sars in Résult. Camp. Scient. Prince Albert I, 69, pls.1-127 (1924). [Pl.LVII, figs.1-5]. As Lucicutia maxima. Female: 1, habitus (dorsal); 2, A2; 3, P1; 4, P5; 5, caudal rami (dorsal).
|
Issued from : R.B.S. Sewell in Mem. Indian Mus., 1932, X (continued). [p.286, Fig.94]. As Lucicutia maximaMale: habitus, dorsal (arrangment of the cutaneous pores). Hülsemann (1966, p.730) points to Sewell's description does not agree with his fig.94. In the figure, the caudal rami are as long as the abdomen; in the text, Sewell says it is half as long as the abdomen. Thus his figure agrees with L. sarsi and the description with L. ayurita. The author beliefs that Sewell found males of two species ( sarsi and aurita.

Lucicutia sarsi female: 1 - Characters following not combined : Prosome about 3 times longer than urosome. Cephalosome with slightly projecting and rounded anterior corners and well developed lateral spinous projections; anal somite about as long as wide; caudal rami 11.7 times longer than wide and bowed outwards at base, leaving elliptical space between rami proximally. 2 - P1 with 3-segmented endopod. 3 - Cephalosome with 1 pair lateral spinous projections. 4 - Genital double-somite symmetrical (dorsal view). 5 - Anal somite much shorter than caudal ramus. 6 - P5 with 3-segmented endopod. 7 - Characters not combined between distal 3 to 4 segments of A1 reaching beyond tip of caudal ramus and body length less than 3mm. 8 - Cephalosome with 1 pair of strong lateral spinous projections 9 - Caudal rami 13 times longer than wide, about as long as urosome.

Lucicutia sarsi male: 1 - P1 with 3-segmented endopod. 2 -Cephalosome with 1 pair of strong lateral spinous projections. 3 - Caudal rami nearly as long as urosomal somites; anal somite markedly longer than wide.

It is distinguished from L. major by the long anal segment, and from L. aurita and L. grandis by the long and slender caudal rami. | | | Last update : 16/01/2015
