Mesaiokeras heptneri  Andronov, 1973   (F,M)
Andronov, 1973 (p.1242, figs.F,M); Fosshagen, 1978 (p.181, Rem.); Boxshall & Halsey, 2004 (p.144; p.143: figs.F,M)
Species Mesaiokeras heptneri - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : Andronov V.N. in Zool. Zh, 1973, 52 (8). [Fig.1, p.1243].
Female off Cap Cod): 1, 2, habitus (dorsal, lateral); 3, genital segment (ventral view); 4, the same (lateral); 5, Rostrum; 6 the same (lateral); 7, P1; 8, P4; 9, P5; 10, P5 (juvenile, stage V).

Male: 11, 13, habitus (dorsal, lateral); 13, P5; 14, P5 (juvenile, stage V)

Species Mesaiokeras heptneri - Plate 2 of morphological figuresIssued from : V.N. Andronov in Russian Acad. Sci. P.P. Shirshov Inst. Oceanol. Atlantic Branch, Kaliningrad, 2014. [p.84, Fig.21: 8]. Mesaiokeras heptneri after Andronov, 1973 a.

Distribution map of Mesaiokeras heptneri by geographical zones
NW Atlant. (off Cape Cod)
N: 1
(407) F: 0,46-0,4; M: 0,4-0,38; {F: 0,40-0,46; M: 0,38-0,40}
Rem.: hyperbenthic. (220-235 m).
For Fosshagen (1978, p;181) M. hepneri may be considered the most primitive member of the genus: A1 female 24; exopod of the P1 bears 1 spine on the outer margin of the 1st and 2nd segments; it is the only known species with both P5 present in the female and a 3-segmented right P5 in the male; and there is less reduction in M. hepneri than in the other species.
