Distribution map of Metridia gurjanovae by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | Station Knot, Bering Sea, Station "P" (50°N, 145°W), N & S Chile (in Björnberg, 1973), off Mauritania (in Vives, 1982, p.293) | | | N: | 5 | | | Lg.: | | | (22) F: 3,45; M: 3; (205) M: 3; {F: 3,45; M: 3,00} | | | Rem.: | Nomen nudum in Epstein, 1949, described by Brodsky (1950). For Brodsky (1967, p.301) this species differs from the closely similar M. brevicauda Giesbrecht in the 4-segmented P5 of the female, in the much smaller difference in the length of rhe right and left legs of P5 male. For Vaupel-Klein (1970, p.35) the structure of P5 of the males of the species M. pacifica, gurjanovae and probably also M. asymmetrica is very similar and might be an indication of a closer relationship between these three species. The geographic distribution of this form is surprising. | | | Last update : 26/01/2016 | |
