Male (from San Diego, California): 41, Anal segment and caudal rami (dorsal).

Nota: Urosome 5-segmented; anal and genital segments of equal lengths; the 3rd segment is the longest of the five. Grasping A1 on the left side, reaching back to end of caudal rami


Species Metridia sp. - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : C.O. Esterly in Univ. Calif. Publs Zool., 1906, 3 (5). [Pl.13, Fig.79]. As Metridia princeps.
Female: 79, P5.

Nota: Genital segment longer than last two; anal segment half as long as middle one. Caudal ramus 5 or 6 times as long as broad. A1 reaching beyond end of caudal rami by about the last segment. P5 4-segmented, last segment with 3 apical bristles, all of which are plumose; the basal segment with a tuft of long hairs.

Male: 97 , P5.
Nota: 1st segment of P5 on right side with a long spine. Two males were taken with 5 females which are undoubtedly M. princeps.
