Nota: Urosome 2-segmented. Caudal rami unequal in length, left slightly longer than right. P5 symmetrical. Left A1 19-segmented. Forked rostrum directed ventrally, each fork with distal barb. Conspicuous cephalic hook attached to ventro-lateral margin on each side. Male: E, habitus (dorsal); F, idem (lateral). Nota: Left A1, rostrum, cephalic hooks and last metasomal segment as the female.

Calanopia australica. Female: 1 - P5 exopod 2-segmented. 2 - Cephalic lateral hooks present. 3 - Genital compound somite longer than 2nd urosomite. 4 - Caudal rami asymmetrical, left one longer than right; 2nd exopodal segment of P5 nearly as long as first one. Male: 1 - Left P5 shorter than right one; basis of left P5 not swollen prosximally. 2 - Prosomal posterolateral corner symmetrical. 3 - Cephalic lateral hooks present. 4 - Caudal rami symmetrical and divergent posteriorly; 2nd exopodal segment of left P5 nearly as long as first one. 5 - 1st exopodal segment of right P5 (chela) without thumb, medial margin of the chela with a group of needle-like spines and 2 smoothly curved processes; 2nd exopodal segment of left P5 with short terminal spine.
