Labidocera barbadiensis  Fleminger & Moore, 1977   (F,M)
Fleminger & Moore, 1977 (p.522, figs.F,M)
Espèce Labidocera barbadiensis - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : A. Fleminger & E. Moore in Bull. Mar. Sci., 1977,27 (3). [p.521, Figs.1-3].
Female (from 13°11'N, 59°39'W): 1 F, forehead (right lateral); 2, 5th thoracic segment and urosome (dorsal); 3, same (left lateral).

Male: 1 M, forehead (right lateral).

Scale bar: 0.5 mm.

Espèce Labidocera barbadiensis - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesissued from : A. Fleminger & E. Moore in Bull. Mar. Sci., 1977,27 (3). [p.523, Figs.4-6].
Female: 4, 5th thoracic segment and urosome (right lateral); 5, same (ventral); 6, P5 (posterior).
Nota: Exopod of P5 shorter than the endopod; basipod 2 unusually wide and projecting anteriad in lateral view; endopods paddle-like and curve mediad, right and left endopods together assuming the form of a ring clamp that could function to clasp a circular or cylindrar object such as a spermatophore or the male urosome during mating.

Espèce Labidocera barbadiensis - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesissued from : A. Fleminger & E. Moore in Bull. Mar. Sci., 1977,27 (3). [p.524, Figs.7-10].
Male: 7, spermatophore (left ventro-lateral).

Female (incomplete and shaded): 8, with spermatophore (dorsal); 9, same (right lateral); 10, same (left lateral).

Espèce Labidocera barbadiensis - Planche 4 de figures morphologiquesissued from : A. Fleminger & E. Moore in Bull. Mar. Sci., 1977,27 (3). [p.525, Figs.11-16].
Male: 11, 5th thoracic segment and urosome (dorsal); 12, same (right lateral); 13, right A1 (dorsal view); 14, right P2 (posterior; setae omitted); 15, P3 (posterior; setae omitted); 16, P4 (posterior; setae omitted).
Nota: Right A1 with anterior process extending from segment 17 exceeding anterior-posterior length of segment omitting anterior process; fused segments 19-21 longer than segment 18; teeth on segments 18 and 19-21 few and irregularly spaced; distal lobe on segment 19-21 protruding anteriad; segment 22 with spur extendind distally; spur longer than combined lengths of more distal segments.

Espèce Labidocera barbadiensis - Planche 5 de figures morphologiquesissued from : A. Fleminger & E. Moore in Bull. Mar. Sci., 1977,27 (3). [p.526, Figs.17-19].
Male: 17, P5 (posterior); 18, P5 chela (posterior; another specimen); 19, same (anterior; another specimen).
Nota: Chela on right P5 with proximal end of proximal segment bearing two opposing processes which together form a crotch that receives distal end of opposing, movable, distal segment when adducted to proximal segment to close chela; proximal segment with small lobe near base of crotch ( L. wilsoni with similar lobe but with only 1 proximal process; 1 more distal scimitar-like process found on proximal segment in wilsoni lacking in L. barbadiensis). As in other labidocera coxa of right leg (B1) elongated, left B1 short, left and right B1 partially fused medially and articulating in common with sternum of thoracic segment above. Basis (B2) bearing 1 seta proximally on posterior side; right B2 elongate, longer than left B2, latter strongly expanded medially, segment triangular in posterior view. Proximal segment of left exopod more strongly curved than in wilsoni with curvature beginning in proximal half of segment (in wilsoni weak bend in left exopod limited to distal half of segment ) ; distal segment of left leg with prominent tumid thumb-like process set off distally on medial side (in wilsoni similar process located on lateral side distal to 3 small spines common to both species) ; posterior face of distal exopodal segment of left P5 with a band of fine hairs reaching distal end of lateral process opposing thumb-like process.

Rem.: in near-surface water.
For Fleminger & Moore (1977, p.524) males are relatable to the Caribbean branch of the 'jollae group' by the morphology of their geniculated right A1 and differ from their sister species in both the left and right P5.
