issued from : A. Scott in Siboga-Expedition, 1909, XIX a. [Plate LIV, Figs.1-10]. Female (from Indonesian waters): 1, habitus (dorsal); 2, rostrum; 3, A1; 4, Mxp; 5, endopodite of P1; 6, P5. Nota: Abdomen 2-segmented. Genital segment slightly asymmetrical; A1 20-segmented, reaching the end of the thorax. Male: 7, last thoracic segment and urosome (dorsal); 8, right A1; 9, grasping segments of right A1; 10, P5.

issued from : E.G. Silas & P.P. Pillai in J. mar. biol. Ass. India, 1973 (1976), 15 (2). [p.841, Fig.30]. Female (from Indian Ocean): a, urosome (dorsal); b, P5. Nota: Genital segment asymmetrical, provided with 3 spines, 2 towards proximal dorsal side with a band of fine spinules at their bases on either side, 3rd spine situated at tip of a rounded eminence on right side; laterally genital segment provided with scattered setae. Anal lamina well developed, situated more towards right side. A1 16 -segmented. The genital segment shows slight variation from the form described by A. Scott (1909) in that were only 3 spines, the left disto-lateral spine being absent. Also, the bands of fine setules at the base of proximal spines of the genital segment observed in the present material have not been described so far Male: c, right A1 (geniculate part); d, P5. Scale as in Calanopia minor.

Issued from : R.B.S. Sewell in Rec. Indian Mus., 1912, 7. [p.375]. As Pontellopsis herdmani. Female: Characters of P. herdmani, P. macronyx and intermediate form. Nota: According to Sewell (1912, p.375), the differences between the two forms P. macronyx and herdmani, which was descibed by Thompson & Scott from Sri-Lanka and the waters to the east of Borneo, Scott was quite justified in making them different species, but the discovery of a third and intermediate form from the Burma coast indicates that in reality we are dealing with a single variable species. The author proposes to combine the three forms under the name of P. herdmani. From the comparison of characters, it would appear that we are dealing with another example of continuous variation, apparently affecting only the females of the species, for as the habitat extends to the westward we meet with a tendancy for a reduction of the niumber of spines on the genital segment of the abdomen, a fusion of certain segments at the base of A1, and the formation of a second spine on the left P5. The males correspond exactly with the description of P. macronyx, A. Scott (1909).
