Chiridiella gibba Deevey, 1974 (F, juv.M) | |
| | | | | | Syn.: | Chiridiella macrodactyla : Farran, 1908 b (p.46, figs.F) | | | Ref.: | | | Deevey, 1974 (p.445, figs.F, juv.M, Rem.); Markhaseva, 1996 (p.97, figs.F) | issued from : E.L. Markhaseva in Proc. Zool. Inst. RAN, St. Petersburg, 1996, 268. [p.96, Fig.71]. Female.
issued from : G.B. Deevey in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1974, 24 (2). [p.446, Fig.3]. Female (from32°10'N, 64°30'W): a-b, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); c, A1; d, female upended, to show dorsal hump on head; e, A2; f, Md; g, Mx1; h, Mxp. Scale at upper right for parts a-d; at bottom right for parts e-h. Scales in mm. Nota: Dorsal protuberance on head more pronounced on some specimens than on others. Head and 1st thoracic segment separate. Cephalothorax 81-83 % of total length ; urosome20-22 % of cephalothorax length. A1 24-segmented, longer than body. A2 exopod about twice as long as endopod. P1 exopod with 1 edge spine.

issued from : G.B. Deevey in Bull. Mar. Sc., 1974, 24 (2). [p.447, Fig.4]. Female: c, P3; d, P4; e, P2, f, P1; g, Mx2. Immature Male: a-b, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively). Scale between parts a and b for a and b; beside f for parts e-g. Scales in mm.
issued from : G.P. Farran in Fish. Ire. Sci. Invest., 1906, II [1908]. [Pl. IV, Figs.6-14]. As Chiridiella macrodactyla. Female (from 54°50'N, 10°30'W): 6, P1; 7, P3; 8, P2; 9, Mxp; 10, Mx1; 11, A2; 12, A1; 13, habitus (lateral); 14, Mx2. Nota: The very strangely modified claw-like structure of Mx2 is probably due either to a predatory or semi-parasitic mode of life. The reduction of P1 would seem to point to the latter conclusion, though the presence of the species free in townettings is against it. The absence of an inner-edge seta on the 2nd basal segment of P1 is noteworthy.

issued from : E.L. Markhaseva in Proc. Zool. Inst. RAN, St. Petersburg, 1996, 268. [p.96, Fig.71]. Female: Mx2.
Chiridiella gibba female: 1 - Mx2 with 5 endites. 2 - Mx2 strongly modified in comparison with typical; first-fifth endites of varying size; Setation is not typical, some number of setae on third-fifth endites transformed into pincers-like spines. 3 - Setae of fourth endite of Mx2 arranged like pincers. 4 - Exopodal segment 2 of Md with 1 seta. Mx1 without exopod.
Chiridiella gibba female ; 1 - Penultimate lobe of Mx2 with 1 long and 1 short spine arranged as pincers. 2 - Mx2 with 4 or 5 lobes. 3 - A1 as long as, or longer than body. 4 - 1st basipod segment of Mxp with 1 distal seta on a terminal expansion, 2nd segment with 2 median setae.
