Ref.:
Tanaka, 1962 (p.51, Descr.M, figs.M); Bradford, 1973 (p.144); Park, 1982 (p.76); Bradford & al., 1983 (p. 93)
Espèce Scolecithricella avia - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : O. Tanaka in Publ. Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1962, X (1). [p.52, Fig.135].
Male (from Suruga Bay): a, habitus (dorsal); b, forehead (left lateral side); c, rostrum; d, last thoracic segment and urosome (left lateral side); e, P1; f, P2; g, exopod and endopod of left P5; h, exopod of right P5.

Nota Male:
- Cephalothorax to Abdomen about 1.39.
- hear and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th thoracic segments fused.
- Posterolateral corners of the last thoracic segment rounded, but slightly produced at the apex.
- Rostrum gradually attenuates into 2 slender filaments.
- Abdominal segments and caudal rami in the proportional lengths 16 : 24 : 21 : 26 : 2 : 11 = 100.
- Caudal rami parallel, 1.3 times as long as wide.
- A1 19-segmented on the left side; reaches back about to the middle of the 3rd abdominal segment.
- Md well developed.
Mx1 with 7 long and 2 short setae on the outer lobe, 6 setae on the exopod, 5 setae obn the segments 2-3 and 4 setae on the last segment of the endopod, 5 setae on the 2nd basal, 3 setae on the 3rd inner lobe, 2 setae on the 2nd inner lobe.
- Mx2 with 3 vermiform and 5 amalliform filaments on the endopod; 1 of the amalliform filaments much larger than the rest.
- Mxp with 1st and 2nd basal segments of about equal lengths.
- P1 without outer edge spine on the 1st exopodal segment; the posterior surface of the 2nd basal segment (= basis) with transverse row of small spines.
- P2 with the outer edge spine of the 1st exopodal segment long and curved, exceeding the middle of the outer margin of the next segment: the outer edge spine of the 2nd exopodal segment about as long as that on the 1st segment; terminal spine of exopod with 37 teeth.
- P5 extends to the middle of the caudal rami. Endopod longer than the 3-segmented exopod. Exopod of right leg with 1 spine on the distal segment.

Espèce Scolecithricella avia - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesissued from : O. Tanaka in Publ. Seto Mar. Biol. Lab., 1962, X (1). [p.52].
Male: Proportional lengths of segments of left A1 (distal 2 segments lost).
