Female (from 39°45.2'N, 70°33.8'W): 228-229, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); 230, right A1; 231, A2; 232, Md palp; 233, Md (masticatory edge); 234, Mx1; 235, Mx2; 236, Mxp; 237, P1; 238, P2; 239, P3; 240, P4; 241, P5. Nota: - Head and 1st thoracic segment separated dorsally by fine line, 4th and 5th fused. - Abdomen 4-segmented, anal segment very small. - Rostrum or filaments absent. - Posterolateral corners of 5th thoracic segment rounded with shallow indentation. - A1 not quite reaching end of cephalothorax, 24-segmented, segments 8 and 9 fused, incompletely separated from segment 10. - Exopod of A2 2 times the length of endopod. - Basal segment of Md palp with 2 coarse and 1 long slender setae; endopod longer than exopod; gnathobase with 7 monocuspidate teeth and 1 thick seta. - Mx1 with 12 spines on 1st inner lobe; 3 setae on 2nd inner lobe; 4 setae on 3rd inner lobe; 3 setae on 2nd basal segment; 2 and 5 setae on endopod; 3 setae on exopod. - Mx2 with lobes and endopod located in distal half of appendage. - Mxp with 2nd basal segment about as long as 1st, thickened in proximal half. - Endopod of P1 1-segmented, of P2 2-segmented, of P3 and P4 and exopods of P1 to P4 3-segmented. - Posterior sides of P2 to P4 with few spinules. - P5 3-segmented; distal segment slender with 1 coarse terminal spine and 1 terminal spine-like point; distal segment, measured to the insertion of the spine, 1.5 times the length of preceding segment.

Issued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., Harvard, 1970, 139 (4). [p.222-223, Pl. XIII, Figs. 242-257]. As Undinella compacta. Male:242,-243, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); 244, left A1; 245, A2; 246, Md palp; 247, Md (masticatory edge); 248, Mx1; 249, Mx2; 250, Mxp; 251, P1; 252, P2; 253, P3; 254, P4; 255, P5; 256, exopod of left P5; 257, distal portion of right P5. Nota: - Head and 1st thoracic segment separated dorsally by fine line, 4th and 5th fused. - Abdomen 5-segmented, anal segment very short. - Rostrum or filaments absent. - Posterolateral margin of 5th thoracic segment angular with rounded tip. - A1 reaching posterior end of 2nd abdominal segment; segments 8-10 and 20-21 fused in right A1, segments 8-10 only fused in left A1. Sensory appendages on segments 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Other appendages and swimming legs as in female. - P5 large, exceeding end of caudal rami. In right P5, 2nd and 3rd exopodal segments fused to one slender segment bearing a hump posteriorly in the distal half, terminal segment flattened; endopod lacking.
