Cymbasoma bowmani Suarez-Morales & Gasca, 1998 (F) | |
| | | | | | Ref.: | | | Suarez-Morales & Gasca, 1998 (p.434, Descr.F, figs.F, Rem.); Suarez-Morales & Palomares-Garcia, 1999 (p.197, tab.1); Suarez-Morales, 2002 (p.95: tab.1); Suarez-Morales & Morales-Ramirez, 2003 (p.210: Table 2); Grygier & Suarez-Morales, 2018 (p.503: Rem.). | issued from : E. Suarez-Morales & R. Gasca in J. Mar. Syst., 1998, 15. [p.435, Fig.1]; Female (from Yucatan): A, habitus (lateral; holotype: type \"A\"); B, head (type \"B\"; lateral); C, P1; D, P2; E, P3; F, P4; G, urosome (ventral). Scales in mm. Nota: Form \"B\" resembles form \"A\", but differs by some aspects. Nota (Form \"A\"): Cephalothorax (incorporating 1st pedigerous somite) accounting for 63 % of total body length; Oral papilla lying midventrally 0.15 of way back along cephalothorax. Nauplius eye present, weakly developed, ocelli slightly pigmented with rounded shape. Cuticular ornamentation only over anterior third of cephalothorax, with faint pattern of vertical striations over the eye region and transversal pattern posteriorly. A1 4-segmented, slightly longer than 13 % of total body length; ratio of length A1 segments 13.8:26.4:13.8:46.0 = 100; two of these spines terminal, forming chela-like structure. P5 fused medially; each leg with one single exopodal lobe 1.5 times longer than wide, armed with 3 long, plumose setae, subequal in length and breadth. Urosome consisting of 5th pedigerous somite, genital double-somite, and 1 free abdominal somite; ratio of lengty 33.4:42.8:23.8 = 100. Genital double-somite bearing long ovigerous spines, basally separated, about 42 % of total body length, extending well beyond setae of caudal rami. Caudal rami 1.65 times longer than wide, moderately divergent, bearing 3 terminal setae

issued from : E. Suarez-Morales & R. Gasca in J. Mar. Syst., 1998, 15. [p.436, Fig.2]; Female: A, A1 (dorsal; holotype); B, A1 (dorsal; type \"B\"); C, last portion of the urosome (dorsal; holotype); D, forehead (dorsal; type \"B\"); E, urosome (lateral; type \"B\"); F, idem (lateral; type \"B\"). Arrows show protuberance on genital double-somite. Scales in mm. Nota: Form \"B\" resembles form \"A\" in most aspects, but differing as follows: ventral sinus on anterior portion of cephalothorax not quite curved; anterior margin of oral papilla as in fig.1B; Cephalosome 0.63 of total body length; anterior portion of cephalic region relatively narrower; armature of terminal antennulary segment show some differences; proportions of A1 segments as 13.4:24.1:16:46.5 = 100; Genital double-somite relatively smaller (43 %) with respect to urosome toatal length; genital ventral protuberance much higher (fig.2F); postgenital somite relatively longer than in form \"A\" (see Table 1).

issued from : E. Suarez-Morales & R. Gasca in J. Mar. Syst., 1998, 15. [p.437, Table 1]; Comparison of different measurements among several specimens of C. reticulata and the two forms of C. bowmani from Mahahual. Data for Giesbrecht (1892) and Al-Kholy (1963) were measured from drawings presented by these authors.

issued from : E. Suarez-Morales & R. Gasca in J. Mar. Syst., 1998, 15. [p.434]; Female (form \"A\"): Armature of swimming legs P1 to P4; Roman numeral = spine; arabic numeral = seta.

Comparison of main taxonomic features in species of Cymbasoma with a cephalothorax relative length equal or over 60%, females only: C. bowmani Suarez-Morales & Gasca, 1998. Mouth position way back anterior part of forehead in percentage of the cephalothorax length. Compare with C. boxshalli, C. californiense, C. longispinosum, C. morii, C. nicolettae, C. quintanarooense, C. striatus, C. thompsoni, C. tumorifrons, C. sp. (from Brazil), C. chelemense.

Issued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A. Morales-Ramirez in Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 2003, 116 (1). [p.210, Table 2]. Selected taxonomic features in Cymbasoma bowmani. GDS = anterior half genital double-somite globose; IS = inner seta of P5 smallest; IS <50% = inner seta <50% as long as others; L = longest seta on P5; OP on CT = position of oral papilla on cephalothorax; AI/CT = relative length (as a percent) of A1 to cephalothorax; = relative length (as a percent) of position of oral papilla anteriorly on cephalothorax; T = transverse striations on ''neck'' area. Compare with species of Cymbasoma with uniramous P5 armed with 3 setae: C. concepcionae, C. reticulatum, C. quintanarooense, C. boxshalli, C. bali, C. frondipes, C. striatum, C. claparedi, C. tumorifrons.

Carte de distribution de Cymbasoma bowmani par zones géographiques
|
| | | Loc: | | | Mexico (Yucatan: Lagoon Mahahual) | | | N: | 1 | | | Lg.: | | | (283) F: 2,1; {F: 2,10} | | | Rem.: | In reef area. For Suarez-Morales & Gasca (1998, p.438) this species is most closely related to Cymbasoma reticulata (as Thaumaleus reticulatus Giesbrecht, 1892). Among other features, bowmani can be distinguished mainly by the lack of reticulation both in the A1 and the body.
