Monstrilla nasuta Davis & Green, 1974 (F) | |
| | | | | | Ref.: | | | Davis & Green, 1974 (p.60, Descr.F, figs.F); Huys & Boxshall, 1991 (p.155, 164, 465, fig.F); Grygier, 1995 a (p.72) | issued from : R. Huys & G.A. Boxshall in Copepod Evolution, The Ray Society, 1991. [p.164, Fig.2.5.7]. Female (from Resolute Bay, Canada): A, rostral projection (dorsal); B, idem (lateral view). Nota: After Huys & Boxshall (1991, p.155), this species is the only monstrilloid with an anteriorly directed structure in the adult; in other monstrilloids the rostrum is either absent or represented by a slight extension of the anterior margin of the dorsal cephalic shield wrapped around the frontal surface of the cephalothorax.. The authors interpret the presence of a rostrum of M. nasuta as a secondary condition, probably resulting from heterochrony.
