        Monstrilla ( Genre )
Monstrilla globosa  Suarez-Morales, 2003   (M)
Suarez-Morales, 2003 (p.67, figs.M); 2011 (p.10); Suarez-Morales & Castellanos-Osorio, 2019 (p.120, 121).
Espèce Monstrilla globosa - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : E. Suarez-Morales in Bull. Mar. Sc, 2003, 73 (1). [p.68, Figs.14-17].
Male (from Banco Chinchorro, Mexico): 14, 17, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); 15, head (lateral; ventral protuberance arrowed); 16, genital complex (lateral; bud of P5 arrowwed, lobe globose arrowed).

Nota: Cephalothorax representing about 47 % of body length (caudal rami excluded). Oral papilla relatively well developed, protuberant, represented by cylindrical structure located 0.14 of way back along ventral surface of cephalothorax. Ocelli present, well developed , lightly pigmented, rounded in dorsal view. Pigment cups separated by a distance equal to 1.5 times the eye diameter. Forehead re flat in dorsal view, sensillae not seen, with patch of blister-like processes on dorsal surface. A1 5-segmented, clearly separated segments, relatively long, representing close to 78 % of the cephalothorax length; length ratio of antennular segments 13.7:18.8:12.7:30.9:23.9 = 100; distal segment with a bifid element (arrowed in figs.18,19), probably representing a fusion of two elements. P5 nearly cylindrical appendage (arrowed in fig.16), naked bud-like. Succeeding somite with ventral protuberance, which is the base of a long genital apparatus, nearly cylindrical but having 2 divergent terminal lobes; a low, rounded process present between bases of lobes (arrowed in fig.16). Urosome consisting of 5 somites (5th pedigerous somite, genital complex somite, and 3 free abdominal somites (postgenital, preanal, anal somites); representing about 19 % of total body length. Caudal rami subrectangular, bearing 6 setae (1 outer lateral, 3 terminal, 1 dorsal, 1 inner lateral).

Espèce Monstrilla globosa - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesissued from : E. Suarez-Morales in Bull. Mar. Sc, 2003, 73 (1). [p.70, Figs.18-22].
Male: 18, left A1 (dorsal); 19, right A1 (dorsal); 20, cephalic area (ventral; showing cuticular ornamentation); 21, genital complex (ventral); 22, P2.
Nota: Oral region with relatively large protuberance covered with longitudinal ridges lying above the nipple-like processes (arrowed in figs.15, 20)

Espèce Monstrilla globosa - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesissued from : E. Suarez-Morales in Bull. Mar. Sc, 2003, 73 (1). [p.69].
Male: Armament of swimming legs P1 to P4.

Carte de distribution de Monstrilla globosa par zones géographiques
Mexico (Yucatan)
N: 1
(936) M*: 2,8; {M: 2,80}
* Caudal rami excluded.
Rem.: For Suarez-Morales (2003, p.69 )the presence of a reduced P5 in the males is a characteristic useful to separate this species from its congeners.
