Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separate, 4th and 5th fused. P5 slightly asymmetrical (right leg longer than left), 1-segmented exopod bearing 1 inner and 2 terminal acutely pointed processes, outer terminal process slightly longer than inner process, with 2 minute pointed prominences an anterior surface (arrowed in Fig.2J,K). Urosome 2-segmented. Genital complex slightly asymmetrical, expanded anterolaterally on both sides, expansions each with peg-sensillum at tip (Fig.2C-E). Anal somite remarkably asymmetrical. Caudal rami considerably asymmetrical

Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separate, 4th and 5th fused. Urosome 5-segmented; 2nd urosomal segment with 2 posterolateral setules on right side (Fig.3B). Caudal rami, symmetrical, separate from anal somite. Right and left P5 with coxa unarmed; right basis bearing large inner bilobed process at mid-length; left basis with1 outer and 1 inner setule, exopod 2-segmented.

Differential diagnosis of T. insularis female. Compare with other species of the subgenus Atortus species from the Indian Ocean.

Morphological characters female:
- Genital compound somite asymmetrical. Caudal rami slightly asymmetrical with left ramus stouter and shorter that the right one.

Differential diagnosis of T. insularis male. Compare with other species of the subgenus Atortus species from the Indian Ocean.

Morphological characters male:
- Left P5 terminal portion of 2nd exopodal segment acutely pointed at tip, with serrated subdistal seta. Right P5 coxa bearing 3 acutely pointed prominences of unequal size, basis bearing large bilobed process at midlength.
