| | | Loc: | | | Bahamas (Cat Island) | | | N: | 1 | | | Lg.: | | | (601) M: 0,78; {M: 0,78} | | | Rem.: | For Fosshagen (1972, p.58) this form shows a similar serration of the urosomal segments as Platycopia sp.A. In addition to its larger size it can be distinguished from the male of P. inornata in some details of the P5: the spines along the exopod of Platycopia sp.B have a different relative length than those of P. inornata. The flanged spine on the outer distal margin of the 1st segment of the exopod reaches halfway along the last segment, and is approximately the same length as the two flanged spines near the middle of the outer margin of the last segment. The modified spine on the outer distal corner of the last segment is stronger than that of P. inornata. It bears a 'shoulder', is more coarseely serrated on the outer margin, and is slightly convex along the inner margin. Since the body size and the form of the urosome in the female Platycopia sp.A and the male Platycopia sp.B are so simillar to each other, it is possible that they belong to the same species. Because their occurrence at different localities, it seems better at the moment not to assign Platycopia sp.A and B to any species. | | | Dernière mise à jour : 28/01/2015 | |
