Bradycalanus abyssicolus  Bradford-Grieve, Blanco-Bercial & Boxshall, 2017   (F)
Ref.:
Bradford-Grieve, Blanco-Bercial & Boxshall, 2017 (p. 68, figs. F)
Espèce Bradycalanus abyssicolus - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.70, Fig. 37].
Female (from 64.999°S, 43.020°W): A-B, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); C, forehead (lateral), D, posterior pedigerous somite 5 (lateral view); E, genital double-somitre (lateral); F, P1 (posterior view).
Scale bars: 1.0 mm (A, B, E, F); 0.1 mm (C, D).

Nota:
- Forehead crested, rostral base thick.
- Rostrum directed posteriorly in lateral view with pair of curled tapering filaments;
- Pedigerous somite 5 with short, symmetrical posterior lappets with posteroventral extension usually directed posteriorly ( bent ventrally in illustrated specimen); lappets exte, ding less than 1/3 of way along genital double-somite.
- Genital double-somite in dorsal view with slight bulge at about midlength, in lateral view, genital area with posterior transverse ridge giving ventral outline flattened appearance.
- A1 extends about 5-6 segments beyond caudal rami.
- P1 exopod segment 3 elongate and narrow, nearly 5 times as long as maximum width; distal border of endopod segment 1 extends to distal border of exopod segment 1; exopod outer spines: on segment 1 extends 1/3 distance to outer spine on segment 2; on segment 2 extends about 1/3 distance to proximal outer spine on segment 2; segment 3 proximal spine extends half distance to outer distal spine.

Espèce Bradycalanus abyssicolus - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.71, Fig. 38].
Female: A, A1 ancestral segments I-IX; B, A1 ancestral segments X-XVI; C, A1 ancestral segments XVII-XXI; D, A1 ancsetral segments XXII-XXVIII; E, reduced setae of segment 1; F, hair sensillum on dorsal surface of segment III; G, A2; H, Md palp.
Scale bars: 1.0 mm (A-D); 0.1 mm on remaining figures.

Nota:
- A2 exopod ancestral segments I-III each with vestigial seta, ancestral segment IV with relatively well-developed seta extending as far as base of seta on segment IX.

Espèce Bradycalanus abyssicolus - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.72, Fig. 39].
Female: A, Md gnathobase; B, Mx1 (B1 = basal endite, C = coxal endite); C, coxal endite (C) and basal endite 1 (B1) of Mx1; D, Mx2; E, detail of vestigial coxal epipodite; F, detail of endopod of Mx2; G, Mxp.
Scale bars: 1.0 mm (D, G); 0.1 mm on remaining figures.

Nota:
- Mx1 coxal endite with only 2 setae; endopod segment 3 with posterior surface seta moderately long.
- Mxp 2nd most proximal seta on endopod segments 3-5 1/3 of longest seta.

Espèce Bradycalanus abyssicolus - Planche 4 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.73, Fig. 40].
Female: A, P2; B, P3; C, P4; D, P5. All legs in anterior view

Espèce Bradycalanus abyssicolus - Planche 5 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.66, Table 7].
Morphological characters after identification key of Bradycalanus females and males.
Compare to other species of genus.

Main characters identification after species key :
1 - Head crested; posterior pediger 5 corners with posteroventral attenuated extension in lateral view ; Mx1 coxal endite with 2 setae. (male unknown)

Carte de distribution de Bradycalanus abyssicolus par zones géographiques
Loc:
Argentine Basin, Central Weddell Sea and equatorial Atlantic Ocean.

Type locality: 64.999° S, 43.020° W.
N: 1
Lg.:

Rem.: Abyssopelagic species living at depths > 4000 m.
For Bradford-Grieve & al; (2017, p.73) this species is only in the genus to have a crested head, a reduced number of setae on the coxal endite of Mx1, and a narrow P1 exopod, in particular exopodal segment 3 which is nearly 5 times its maximum width.
