Rem.: méso-bathypélagique, parfois vers la surface.
Pour Bowman (1971) cette forme serait restreinte à l’Atlantique et R. rostrifrons à l’Indo-Pacifique (auteurs, localisations et dimensions entre crochets). La signalisation de cette espèce tropicale en Mer du Nord paraît exceptionnelle.
Lo & al. (2001) signale cette espèce à Taiwan, de même que Rhincalanus rostrifrons. W. Zhang (comm. pers., 2006) confirme la présence de R. cornutus dans ses échantillons (mers de Chine).
