Distribution map of Undinella gricei by geographical zones
|
| | | Loc: | | | NW Atlant. (off E Haiti), Okhotsk Sea. | | | N: | 2 | | | Lg.: | | | (881) F: 2,06; M: 1,88; {F:2,06; M: 1,88} | | | Rem.: | Bathy-abyssopelagic (2000-4000 m). The unique female comes from the collection of the Zoological Institute of Saint Petersburg, with no other precision than the Sea of Okhotsk. After the description of the male by E.H. Wheeler in 1970, from a sample near Haiti (NW Atlantic), the attribution of the female to this species poses a problem. Andronov (pers. comm., 2008) and in his publication (2002, pp. 70-71) underlines the following characters: 1- the comparison between the size ratios of males and females for the other species shows that males have inferior sizes of 1.1 to 1.2 times; one may suppose then that the size of the female of U. gricei should be about equal to 2.07 - 2.26 mm. | | | Last update : 02/02/2015 | |
