Lateral corners of the last thoracic segment rounded and symmetrical. Urosome 4-segmented. Genital segment nearly as long as the other 3 urosomal segments together. Caudal rami about as long as its width. A1 24-segmented, reaching to the end of the 2nd urosomal segment. Exopod of A2 shorter than twice the length of the endopod. P5 symmetrical, each leg uniramous, 3-segmented; the 3rd segment nearly 4 times as long as the 2nd; the distalportion of outside is finely serrate.

According to Mori (1942, p.551) this species resembles that of Stephos scotti (Sars). After Bradford-Grieve (1999 a, p.25) this species belongs to type III (see Genus Stephos).
