Maemonstrilla crenulata  Suarez-Morales & McKinnon, 2014   (F)
Ref.:
Suarez-Morales & McKinnon, 2014 (p.333, Descr.F, figs.F, Rem.)
Espèce Maemonstrilla crenulata - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A.D. McKinnon in Zootaxa, 2014, 3779 (3). [p.334, Fig.21].
Female (from Scott Reef, Western Australia): A, habitus showing partial fainf reticulation of anterior part of cephalothorax (dorsal); B, urosome showing P5 and proximal section of ovigerous spines (lateral); C, same (ventral); D, detail of terminal part of ovigerous spines.
Scale bars: A = 500 µm; B-D = 100 µm.

Nota: Cephalothorax representing up to 60 % of total body length (measured from the anterior end of cephalothorax to the posterior end of the anal somite), with faint reticulate pattern limited to small areas of ventral and dorsal surfaces of cephalic area.
Pair of spine-like scales present on dorsal posterior margin of 3rd pedigerous somite.
A1 relatively short, representing 18 % of total body length (measured from the anterior end of cephalothorax to the posterior end of the anal somite) and 31 % of cephalothorax length.
1st pedigerous somite incorporated into thorax.
P5 paired, rod-like, distally bilobed, inner lobe with 1 seta, outer lobe with 1 distal and 2 subdistal setae (fig.21C).
3rd pedigerous somite with 2 dorsal spine-like scales on posterior margin.
Ventral surface of genital somite bearing ovigerous spines arising from low conical projection of anterior half. Posterior half of genital compound somite with ventral margin straight (fig.21B). Copulatory opening located on ventral surface at posterior base of ovigerous spine cone (arrowed in fig.21C).
Tips of ovigerous spines reaching to between P2 and posterior margin of cephalothorax.
Caudal rami short, quadrate, each bearing 5 setae.

Espèce Maemonstrilla crenulata - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A.D. McKinnon in Zootaxa, 2014, 3779 (3). [p.335, Fig.22].
Female: A, cephalic area showing oral papilla, faint reticulation and cuticular striation (lateral); B, left A1 (dorsal view); C, urosome (dorsal); D, urosome showing anteroventral rounded process of genital compound somite (arrow), P5 omitted.
Scale bars: A-D = 100 µm.

Nota:
Oral papilla well developed, thick, with wide base, located anteriorly, about 19 % of way back along ventral surface of cephalothorax.
Pair of relatively large ocelli present, pigment cups separated by more than eye diameter, weakly pigmented; ventral cup slightly smaller than lateral cups.
Forehead with moderate-sized medial rounded protrusion and 2 sensilla. 2 pairs of nipple-like cuticular processes on anterior ventral surface between A1 bases and oral papilla, this area showing transverse striation pattern.
A1 4-segmented, with weak division between segments 3 and 4.
Urosome consisting of 4 somites : 5th pedigerous somite, compound genital somite (with incomplete transverse suture on dorsal surface), and 2 free postgenital somites (preanal and anal somites).

Espèce Maemonstrilla crenulata - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A.D. McKinnon in Zootaxa, 2014, 3779 (3). [p.336, Fig.23].
Female: A, P1 showing ridges on outer margin of 3rd exopodal segment (arrow); B, P2 showing notch on outer margin of 1st endopodal segment (arrow); C, P3 showing notch on outer margin of 1st endopodal segment (arrow).
Scale bars: A-C = 100 µm.

Nota : P1-P4 with inner seta present on 1st exopodal segment. Outer margin of coxa of these legs crenulate. 1st endopodal segment of P2 and P3 with outer notch.

Espèce Maemonstrilla crenulata - Planche 4 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A.D. McKinnon in Zootaxa, 2014, 3779 (3). [p.333].
Female: Armature formula of swimming legs P1 to P4.
Spines: Roman numerals; setae: Arabic numerals. The element or elements on the outer margin of any segment are given first, separated by a hyphen from the inner margin element or elements. The armature on the terminal segment of each ramus has three components separated by commas and are given in the sequence: outer margin, distal margin, inner margin. (Huys & Boxshall, 1991)

Rem.: After Suarez-Moeales & McKinnon (2014, p.338) this species is closely related M. turgida species group as defined by Grygier & Ohtsuka (2008) mainly by the lack of reticulation on most f the cephalothorax, as well as the A1 and pedigerous somites, the presence of a pair of spiniform processes on the dorsal posterior margin of the 3rd pedigerous somite, the presence of an inner seta on the 1st exopodal segment of P1-P4, the bilobed P5 with 1 endopodal and 3 exopodal setae, and the unmodified posteroventral margin of the genital compound somite.
