Paraeuchaeta abyssalis  Brodsky, 1950   (F)
Syn.: Pareuchaeta abyssalis Brodsky, 1950 (1967) (p.220, Descr.F, figs.F); Heptner, 1971 (p.90, figs.F)
Ref.:
Bradford & al., 1983 (p.20); Park, 1994 (p.322); 1995 (p.53, Redescr.F, figs.F)
Espèce Paraeuchaeta abyssalis - Planche 1 de figures morphologiquesissued from : T. Park in Bull. Scripps Inst. Oceanogr. Univ. California, San Diego, 1995, 29. [p.155, Fig.45].
Female: a, forehead (left side); b, urosome (left); c, d, genital somite (left, right, respectively); e, Mx1 (first inner lobe omitted), posterior; f, P1 (anterior); g, P2 (anterior).

Nota: Laterally, anterodorsal margin of forehead nearly straight.
Rostrum elongate, pointing in a more forward direction than anterodorsal margin of forehead; its anterior margin beginning a short distance from suprafrontal sensilla and slightly concave; its posterior margin nearly straight.
Genital somite with a depth-length ratio of 100:137; its dorsal wall bulging at about 1/3 its length from proximal end. Anterior and posterior margins of genital prominence smoothly and almost symmetrically curving to ventral wall of somite. Posterior margin about as long as posterior ventral wall of somite, together forming a smooth symmetrical arch. Genital flange emarginate, lying obliquely; its posterior lobe rounded. Posterior edge of genital field extending beyond genital flange in parallel to long body axis, without protruding beyond margin of genital prominence. A tall conical outgrowth on left side and a low ridge on right side of genital somite close to anteroventral wall.
Cephalosomal appendages similar to those of P. malayensis except that 1st endopodal segment of Mx1 with 6 setae and outer lobe with 6 long setae and a small seta proximally.
In P1 exopod, outer margin of 1st segment bulging out and outer spine very small; outer spine of 2nd segment extending straight backward behind 3rd segment and reaching base of terminal spine of 3rd segment..

Espèce Paraeuchaeta abyssalis - Planche 2 de figures morphologiquesIssued from : K.A. Brodskii in Calanoida of the Far Eastern Seas and Polar Basin of the USSR. Opred. Fauna SSSR, 1950, 35 (Israel Program for Scientific Translations, Jerusalem, 1967) [p.220, Fig.133]. As Pareuchaeta abyssalis.
Female (from NW Pacif.): habutus (lateral left side); forehead (lateral); S2, P2; corner of the last thoracic segment and urosome (lateral right side); urosome (dorsal); Gf, genital segment (ventral and lateral left side).

Espèce Paraeuchaeta abyssalis - Planche 3 de figures morphologiquesissued from : M.V. Heptner in Trudy. Inst. Okeanol., 1971, 92. [p.91, Fig.8]. As Pareuchaeta abyssalis.
Female (from Kuril-Kamchatka Trench).
Formula of the exopod of P1 spines on the two last segments, successively: Aa < AB (Aa ≈ 1/5 AB); Bb ≥ BC; Cc > BC (Cc ≈ 1.5 BC). P2: Aa > AB; (Aa ≈ AB + 1/2 Bb); Bb < BC (Bb ≈ 2/3 BC); Cc > CD (Cc ≈ CD + 1/2 Dd).variant: Aa ≤ AB; Bb = 1/2 BC. [cf. legend in drawings of Heptner, 1971, for Pareuchaeta rubra]

Espèce Paraeuchaeta abyssalis - Planche 4 de figures morphologiquesParaeuchaeta abyssalis Female:
1 - See key to species Groups and independent species of Paraeuchaeta (p.30): malayensis species Group.
2 - Outer spine of 2nd exopodal segment (or the 2nd of the first 2 exopodal segments forming a proximal, compound segment) of P1 normally developed (Fig.45-f).
3 - Outer lobe of Mx1 with 6 long setae in addition to 1 small seta proximally (Fig.45-e).
4 - Genital somite with a conical process on left side close to anterior base of genital prominence (Fig.45-c).
5 - Conical process of genital somite large; posterior lobe of genital flange inconspicuous (Fig.45-c).
