Species Parvocalanus dubia - Plate 1 of morphological figuresIssued from : R.B.S. Sewell in Rec. Indian Mus., 1912, 7. [Pl.XV, figs.1-5]. As Paracalanus dubia.
Female (from Bay of Bengal): 1, habitus (lateral right side): 2, urosome (ventral); 3, P1; 4, P2; 5, P5.

Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th fused. Caudal rami symmetrical 2-times long as wide. Proportional lengths of urosomites and caudal rami as 15:5:5:10:8. A1 24-segmented (segments 1-2 fused); there is a transverse row of minute spines on the posterior aspect of segments 2 to 9 inclusive. 1 st basal segment bears several scattered delicate spines on its anterior surface.

Species Parvocalanus dubia - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : R.B.S. Sewell in Mem. Indian Mus., 1929, X. [p.76, Fig.29]. As Paracalanus dubia.
Female (from N Indian Ocean): a, genital segment (ventral); b, P5.

Species Parvocalanus dubia - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : K.S. Kesarkar & A.C. Anil in J. mar. Biol. Ass. UK, 2010, 90 (2); [p.406, Table 2].
Characteristics of females.

Species Parvocalanus dubia - Plate 4 of morphological figuresissued from : K.S. Kesarkar & A.C. Anil in J. mar. Biol. Ass. UK, 2010, 90 (2); [p.407, Fig.5, L].
Female: L, P5.

Female : marphological characters.
Compare with other species of Parvocalanus : ( arabiensis, crassirostris, leei, elegans, latus, serratipes, scotti).

Compl. Ref.:

Distribution map of Parvocalanus dubia by geographical zones
Loc:
off Cape Verde Is. (in Chasavar-Archad & Razouls, 1982), E Medit. (N Lebanon Basin), Indian (off S Cochin, Rushikulya estuary, Bay of Bengal), Burma, Mooth of Rangoon River), Australia (North West Cape), Viet-Nam (Nha-Trang), off E New Guinea.
N: 9
Lg.:
(81) F: 0,74; {F: 0,74}
Rem.: For Sewell (1912, p.332) this species differs from P. crassirostris by the absence of spines on the margin of exopod 2 of P2; absence of spines on the posterior aspect of exopodal segments 3 of P3 and P4; serrated saw on P5; shorter terminal segment of A1.
The identified form from off Cape Verde Islands would confirm that this species is only a variety, or an anomaly, of Parvocalanus crassirostris; and also in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Levantin Basin) in Uysal & Shmeleva (2012 (p.918: Table I).
