Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th fused. Caudal rami symmetrical 2-times long as wide. Proportional lengths of urosomites and caudal rami as 15:5:5:10:8. A1 24-segmented (segments 1-2 fused); there is a transverse row of minute spines on the posterior aspect of segments 2 to 9 inclusive. 1 st basal segment bears several scattered delicate spines on its anterior surface.

Remarks

For Sewell (1912, p.332) this species differs from P. crassirostris by the absence of spines on the margin of exopod 2 of P2; absence of spines on the posterior aspect of exopodal segments 3 of P3 and P4; serrated saw on P5; shorter terminal segment of A1.
The identified form from off Cape Verde Islands would confirm that this species is only a variety, or an anomaly, of Parvocalanus crassirostris; and also in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Levantin Basin) in Uysal & Shmeleva (2012 (p.918: Table I).
