| | | | | | Syn.: | Xanthocalanus elongatus Grice & Hulsemann, 1970 (p.190, figs.F,M); Bradford & al., 1983 (p.71, 104); Gowing & Wishner, 1986 (tab.3); Bradford-Grieve, 2004 (p.284) | | | Ref.: | | | Vyshkvartzeva, 1999 (2000) (p.221) | Issued from : G.D. Grice & K. Hülsemann in Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., Harvard, 1970, 139 (4). [p.204-205, Pl. IV, Figs. 74-78]. As Xanthocalanus elongatus. Female (from 39°45.2'N, 70°33.8'W): 74-45, habitus (lateral and dorsal, respectively); 76, 5th thoracic segment and urosome (lateral); 77, same (dorsal); 78, 4th and 5th abdominal segments and caudal rami (ventral). Nota : - Head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th thoracic segments separate. - Abdomen 4-segmented, anal segment very short. - Genital segment with short hair mainly distributed on sides and posterior margin. - Rostrum of moderate size with 2 filaments. - Posterolateral margin of 5th thoracic segment with small point. - A1 24-segmented, reaching to middle of genital segment, segments 8 and 9 fused. - Endopod of A2 nearly as long as exopod. - Basal segment of Md palp bearing 3 setae ; gnathobase with 8 teeth and 1 seta. - Mx1 with 2 setae on 2nd inner lobe, 3 setae on 3rd inner lobe, 5 setae on 2nd basal segment, 3 and 5 setae on endopod, 7 setae on exopod. - Mx2 5th lobe with 2 strong spines and 1 seta ; 1 seta each modified as sensory structure on 3rd and 5th lobes ; endopod with 3 ribbon-like and 5 smaller sensory appendages. - 1st and 2nd basal segments of Mxp of about equal length, in endopod 2nd segment longest. - Endopods of P1 1-segmented, of P2 2-segmented, of P3 and P4 as well as exopods of P1 to P4 3-segmented. Posterior sides of rami of P2 to P4 covered with spinules, especially dense on P4 including both basipodal segments. - P5 3-segmented, 2nd and 3rd segments with many spinules mainly on outer side. Distal segment with 1 short terminal and 1 long internal spine ; internal spine inserting close to terminal spine, exceeding distal segment of P5 in length.
