Monstrillopsis chathamensis  Suarez-Morales & Morales-Ramirez, 2009   (M)
Ref.:
Suarez-Morales & Morales-Ramirez, 2009 (p.1265, figs.M); Suarez-Morales, 2011 (p.10)
Species Monstrillopsis chathamensis - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A. Morales-Ramirez in J. Nat. Hist., 2009, 43 (21-22); [p.1266, Fig.4].
Male (from Isla del Coco, Costa Rica): A-B, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); C, right A1 (dorsal view); D, urosome including 5th pedigerous somite, genital somite and free urosomites (ventral).

Nota: Dorsal ocelli present, pigment cups relatively small, separed by the distance of about two-thirds of the ocellus diameter, poorly developed, weakly pigmented, rounded in dorsal view.
Ventrally anterior cephalic surface with reduced, faint ornamentation represented by a few transverse striations between oral papilla and antennule bases.
Oral papilla reduced, weakly protuberant, located about 0.11 of way back along ventral surface of cephalothorax.
A1, with 5 well-defined segments; antennular length representing close to 30% of total body length, and about 61% as long as cephalothorax.
1st pedigerous thoracic somite incorporated into cephalothorax.
Urosome 5-segmented: 5th pedigerous somite, genital somite (with genital complex/apparatus) and 3 free somites.
Genital somite represented by ventrally protruding genital apparatus; apparatus with 2 divergent lappets arising from middle of somite; in lateral view, shaft curved downwards, distal half of lappets bent posteriorly, reaching proximal margin of anal somite; base of arms with small rounded processes, one on each branch (arrowed in fig.4D); most specimens with spermatophores partially ejected, protruding between genital lappets.

Species Monstrillopsis chathamensis - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A. Morales-Ramirez in J. Nat. Hist., 2009, 43 (21-22); [p.1267, Fig.5].
Male: A, right P3, showing long basipodal seta and intercoxal sclerite (anterior); B, right P2 (anterior); C, left P4 (anterior); D, three postgenital free somites and caudal rami, showing partial suture on dorsal surface of anal somite; E, genital somite and three postgenital somites (lateral).
Most swimming setae cut short.
Nota: Sclerites of swimming legs with anterior surface covered by fields of minute spinules.
P5 absent, 5th pedigerous somite globose.

Anal solite longest (in dorsal view), partially fused with preceding somite, suture visible in ventral view, but only partially in dorsal position; anal somite roughly corrugated dorsal posterior margin.
Ratio of lengths of genital somite and 3 succeeding somites 36 : 19 : 16 : 29 (= 100).
Caudal rami subrectangular, about 1.4 times longer than wide; each armed with 4 biserially setulated setae; all caudal setae subequal in length and width.

Species Monstrillopsis chathamensis - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : E. Suarez-Morales & A. Morales-Ramirez inJ. Nat. Hist., 2009, 43 (21-22); [p.1268, Table 2].
Male: armature of swimming legs.
