Pseudochirella palliata  (Sars, 1907)   (F)
Syn.: Undeuchaeta palliata Sars, 1907 a (p.11, Rem.F)
Ref.:
Sars, 1925 (p.92, figs.F); Sewell, 1948 (p.500); Bradford & Jillett, 1980 (p.66); Markhaseva, 1989 (p.39, fig.F); 1996 (p.285, figs.F)
Species Pseudochirella palliata - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : E.L. Markhaseva in Proc. Zool. Inst. RAN, St. Petersburg, 1996, 268. [p.286, Fig.229].
Female (from NW Pacif.: Kuril Trench). Ce: forehead (lateral); CP4: coxopod of fourth leg (partial).

Nota: Cephalothorax about 4 times longer than urosome.
Posterior corners of last thoracic segment prolonged into lobes, ending with short spine, slightly asymmetrical (dorsal and lateral view).
Genital segment slightly asymmetrical; lateral swelling on the right slightly more prominent than that on the left (dorsal view); segment widest in its second third.
A1 slightly jonger than cephalothorax, reaching the end of genital segment.
Exopodite of P1 3-segmented; segments 1 and 2 incompletely separated.
Endopodite of P2 2-segmented.
Coxopodite of P4 with 13 spines.

Species Pseudochirella palliata - Plate 2 of morphological figuresIssued from : G.O. Sars in Résult. Camp. Scient. Prince Albert I, 69, pls.1-127 (1924). [Pl.XXV, figs.8-10].
Female (from 36°17'N, 28°53'W): 8, habitus (dorsal); 9, idem (lateral left side); 10, basipodal segment of P4.

Nota: Head and 1st toracic segment with suture weakly marked; 4th and 5th thoracic segments distinctly separate with arched suture. Rostrum well developed.

Species Pseudochirella palliata - Plate 3 of morphological figuresIssued from : E.L. Markhaseva in USSR Acad. Sci., Zool. Inst., Explor. Fauna Seas. Marine Plankton, 1989, 41 (49). [p.52, Fig.16].
Female: Thoracic segment 5 and genital segment.
Nota from the key:
1 - Genital segment slghtly asymmetrical.
2 - Thoracic posterior corners not prolonged into triangular lobes, ending with spines.
3 - Spines on thoracic posterior corners directly backward (lateral view).

Distribution map of Pseudochirella palliata by geographical zones
Species Pseudochirella palliata - Distribution map 2Issued from : E.L. Markhaseva in Issled. Fauny Morei, 1989, 41 (49). [p.57, Fig.14].
Geographical distribution of P. palliata.
1: from literature; 2: present occurrence.
Loc:
N Atlant. (Azores), NW Pacif. (Kuril Trench).

Type locality: 36°17'N, 28°53'W.
N: 3
Lg.:
(1) F: 5,5; (37) F: 7,2-5,5; {F: 5,50-7,20}
Rem.: abyssopelagic.
The distribution of this species is surprising (like often with species from great depths).
