Bathycalanus pustulosus  Bradford-Grieve, Blanco-Bercial & Boxshall, 2017   (F)
Syn.: ? Bathycalanus sp. Sewell, 1947 (p.34, fig. 5).
Ref.:
Bradford-Grieve & al., 23017 (p.115, Descr. F, figs. F, phylogeny)
Species Bathycalanus pustulosus - Plate 1 of morphological figuresIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.116, Fig.74].
Female (from 38.033°N, 124.183°W): A-B, habitus (dorsal and lateral, respectively); C, forehead (lateral); D, posterior lappet of pedigerous somite 5 (right lateral view); E, detail of lateral left posterior lappet of pedigerous somite 5; F, caudal ramus (dorsal); G, P1 (anterior view).
Scale bars: 1.0 mm (A, B, D, E, G); 0.1 mm (C, F).

Nota:
- Whole body covered in small pustules easily observed in profile.
- Forehead in dorsal view produced into distinct short rounded projection located dorsal to base of rostrum and bearing pair of stout small spine-like processes.
- Posterolateral corners of pediger 5, in lateral view, produced into left rectangular and right rounded, asymmetrical lappets extending half way along genital double-somite in dorsal view.
- Genital double-somite symmetrical in dorsal view, about as wide as long, widest at midlength, with small genital operculum anteriorly situated, seminal receptacles not observed.
- A1 broken off.
- P1 exopod with articulation between exopodal segments 2 and 3 well-developed.

Species Bathycalanus pustulosus - Plate 2 of morphological figuresIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.117, Fig.75].
Female: A, A2; B, proximal part of exopod of A2 (from another view); C, Md palp; D, Md gnathobase; E, Mx1; F, coxal endite (C) and basal endite 1 (B1) of Mx1; G, Mx2; H, terminal part of Mx2; I, Mxp.
Scale bars: 1.0 mm (G, I); 0.1 mm on remaining figures.

Nota:
- A2 exopod segment IV with short setae not extendind as far as distal border of segment VII and bearing short setules.
- Mx1 praecoxal arthrite with 13 setae including 2 on posterior surface and 2 setae on anterior surface, one of them very small; coxal endite with 1 seta; basal endites 1 and 2 with 2 subequal setae each; endoppod segments with 2 (subequal), 2 (subequal), 5+1 anterior surface seta, respectively.
- Mxp syncoxal endite 4 with longest toothed seta extending beyond distal border of endopodal segment 2.

Species Bathycalanus pustulosus - Plate 3 of morphological figuresIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.118, Fig.76].
Female: A, P2; B, P3; C, P4; D, P5. (all legs from anterior view).

Species Bathycalanus pustulosus - Plate 4 of morphological figuresIssued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve, L. Blanco-Bercial & G.A. Boxshall in Zootaxa, 2017, 4229 (1). [p.91, Table 10].
Morphological characters after identification key of Bathycalanus females and males.
Compare to other species of genus.

Main characters identification after species key:
1 - mx1 coxal endite with 1 seta .... 2.
2 - Mx1 praecoxal arthrite with 2 posterior surface setae; basal endite 2 with 2 setae (male unknown).

NZ: 1 + 1 doubtful

Loc:
NE Pacif. (off California), ? Arabian Sea

Type locality: 38.033° N, 124.183° W.
N: 1
Lg.:
(1316) F: 9,7; {F: 9,7}
Rem.: Probably bathy-abyssopelagic.
For Bradford-Grieve & al. (2017, p.117), it is possible that Sewell (1947) found a stage V individual (7.9 mm) in the Arabian Sea. This is based on the fact thet the body of Sewell's specimen was covered by 'short ridges', the right posterolateral corner of pedigerous somite 5 is drawn out into a rounded lappet, and there were 2 subequal setae on the basal endite 2 of Mx1.. Nevertheless, Sewell (1947) does not record 1 seta on the coxal endite of Mx1 as it present in Bathycalanus pustulosus.
